Hey guys!

How many of you use FLICA for bidding? Is it worth the $10 for home access? Do any of you use the program for the Treo where you can import your lines?

Just curious. It's Friday night in systems and we have a day off tomorrow, so I crawled out of my whole for a few.

If you are a ASA, I don't think it is $10 a month, more like $7.95. I think it is worth it, I use FLica quite often at home for monthly bids and trip trades.

You get what you pay for ;). At this point I'd MUCH rather pay $10/month and get to bid from lines vs. PBS.

In regards to Flica, I started out not paying for it and then switched to the home version. The benefit to paying the $ is it allows you to bid, check your schedule, pickup/drop trips etc. on the road or at home. The company provides Flica at the domicile computers but I like to take my time sorting thru all the lines at home or in the hotel.

The short answer is you can get away without it, but your life in terms of bidding is made easier with all the nifty sorting/displaying of the lines that it does IMO. You probably don't need it for your time on reserve but after you get a line go for it.
 
PBS is free, and apparently so is CrewTrac. Systems at PCL will let us do all those things from home. Maybe it isn't so bad here after all.

Free bidding at home vs. 2 more days off a month, $11/hr more pay second year, and trip and duty rigs? I'm happily paying the $10 :D.

FWIW, the union IS considering PBS, however things will be built into it that won't make it a concessionary deal, such as vacation trip touching (which allows line bidding to turn 8 days of vacation into 20+ days off with pay), among other things (or so we are told). So far the feedback from other pilots at companies with PBS is less than stellar, and I have yet to be impressed.
 
Not all, but a good portion of complaints are simply from not understanding the software. If the airlines want to have PBS they should provide adequate training on PBS.

That's what I've heard too - but in combination with the top 5%-10% of pilots get the cream of the crop of trips while leaving the majority with the "left overs". While senority should count for something I don't think it should make the lives of 90% of the pilot group a living hell. Plus, the pairings are only as good as the Company builds them so crap pairings now = crap pairings with PBS.

Bingo. Four months later, I still can't figure out how to get a reserve line that DOESN'T have 6 on/2 off.....
