Flashlight Colour ?

I want to treat myself to a decent flashlight - like the Lightwave 2000 LED light.

actually I'd go for purple, it's what military pilots get issued and it doesn't wash out the sectionals, I've tried one, actually kinda cool, kinda makes things glow almost black light like.

I love the maglights. Especially the big a$$ whuppin' ones.

Too bad the ones in my flight bag are these little tiny ones that probably couldn't kill a gnat.

I'm guilty of sometimes just using white, but I also have a red-lens AA mag.

Green is what mil pilots of tactical aircraft get now since it's NVG compatible. Cockpit backlighting as well as floodlighting is now green for the same reason. Best color for marking up imagery/charts? Pink. It stands out the best under this type of light.

yep i would go with the AA maglight with a red lense very cheap and reliable.


i also have the a** whuppin model for my car the 6-D cell battery one.

Just be sure to color-coordinate your mag lites with your designer-color E6-Bs, boys.

I always carried a large 2-D cell white lens maglight. I also carried a small 2-AA cell white lens mini-maglight for map reading. The larger one was for preflighting in the dark, as well as in case of an emergency should I lose all electrical power. The large D cell could illuminate the entire panel if needed.

Green is best I think, I always got frustrated trying to read a sectional at night with a red lens... it washes alot of information out.

I switched to a green lens (on my mini mag light) and haven't had a problem since.
