Flagstaff, AZ

Visited Flag a few years ago and loved it. There's a raptor sanctuary there that does demonstrations and gives lectures. I'm utterly fascinated by them and could have spent the whole day there. Sedona was pretty, but I don't think I saw the right parts of it because I kept feeling tourist-trapped. There was a pretty cool, kitschy UFO-themed diner there, though.

I'd move to AZ in a heartbeat for the right gig. Actually, I'd move anywhere for the right gig. DC is starting to grate on my nerves. Baseball season starting soon which will help, but everything....EVERYTHING...in this town is an endeavor which requires planning and more than a little stress. Would like a slower pace.

Almost had my wedding there! Downtown there are a lot of fun bars/shops/restaurants etc. I recommend Diablo Burger.

Thank you for the input!! I picked up on some great ideas that I've added some to our itinerary. Your help is much appreciated.

From what we found and your input here, we are going skiing, Grand Canyon, Walnut Canyon, Lowell Observatory, Indian ruins, High ropes course, meteor crater, and doing some work with the Indian Nations Mission.

I've flown in to Sedona a couple of times but this will be my first venture on the ground with my family.

Thank you all again.............

+1 for lowell observatory, and if driving down to Sedona, go route 89A I think it's called - via oak creek canyon, its a windy road, best a couple of hours before sunset.

Alex.

How has nobody mentioned the Lava Tubes? Millions of years old lava tubes under a beautiful forest teeming with Elk. It's worth the hike... You'll need an SUV to get back there, a good headlamp (darker than the darkest closet you've been in) and some hiking boots. But, it's worth it.

Great, we were trying not to mention the lava tubes and you just go and ruin it.

Too late in the season to ski but we enjoyed the Grand Canyon, Meteor Crater, Walnut Canyon (@KSCessnaDriver), Tuzigoot, Montezuma's Castle, Lowell Observatory, and the Lava River Cave (@GX Very cool place!!).

Thank you, again to all that helped. This is the first vacation I've had with my wife and kids in 7 years and I truly appreciate your input!!
