Still trying to reach the Top Shelf
Headed to Flagstaff for family vacation. Any help with points of interest, things NOT to miss, things to miss, or pointers would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

Visiting Snow Bowl, going to see Meteor Crater to the east on 40, going to the Deer Farm over in Williams to the west on 40, checking out the red rocks of Sedona driving down 89A south of Flagstaff, and having a burger at Bunhuggers in the central part of town. For starters.

@MikeD had a lady-friend in Flag when he was in college so he's pretty familiar.. OOoOoOOOooooooh MikeD, go on wit' yo badself.

"Where ya been man?"

"Umm, nowhere"

Nearby Sunset Crater and the surrounding nature are beautiful sights to see. Also some fascinating ancient Hopi ruins around as well. Check out the Wupatki ruins.
There is also a really fun and challenging high ropes course in town if you're into that and not afraid of heights.

Sedona if you have time to drive 2 hours south.

2 hours? Its like 45 minutes, tops. Walnut Canyon is worth a trip if you get a chance. It's like 10 minutes east of town, easy to get to, and worth a stop.

Also, I'm not sure what the snow pack is like, up on the mountain, but Lockett Meadow is a neat place, but I've never been up there in the early spring.

Sedona. Been there three times and it's just lovely. Locals out that-a-way say they "see UFOs" and "that there's a strong, spiritual presence there" (...shrug?) but it is a beautiful part of AZ.

Uhhh... I know Grand is relatively a short drive north, but Zion's the canyon I'd go back to. Less "touristy," from what I remember, and the small town of Panguitch was lovely as well. That's about a 4 hour hike, but you'd be able to hit Lake Powell or what's left of it Grand Canyon ... the Vermilion Cliffs National Monument....all on the way back down south.

Worth considering....

You know, if you were in Southern Arizona, a really neat place is Bisbee.

Kingman!

Kidding. Kingman is either where you get stuck during cross countries out of PRC or for gas on the way to Las Vegas or California.

Kingman rules!

And I see what you did there.......

Visited Flag a few years ago and loved it. There's a raptor sanctuary there that does demonstrations and gives lectures. I'm utterly fascinated by them and could have spent the whole day there. Sedona was pretty, but I don't think I saw the right parts of it because I kept feeling tourist-trapped. There was a pretty cool, kitschy UFO-themed diner there, though.

I'd move to AZ in a heartbeat for the right gig. Actually, I'd move anywhere for the right gig. DC is starting to grate on my nerves. Baseball season starting soon which will help, but everything....EVERYTHING...in this town is an endeavor which requires planning and more than a little stress. Would like a slower pace.

Trying to correct for traffic. Sometimes that two lane highway can back up big time!

If you go to the Sedona, check out the airport too. It is located on top of a mesa and the views of Sedona from the road up to the airport is great, can't miss Snoopy rock for sure! Grand Canyon about 2.5 hrs away if you haven't been there before. Navajo Nation is cool to visit for history and Indian fried bread. Good restaurant and brewery in the downtown area of Flagstaff. Great town, cool people and good staging point to visit Northern Arizona!
