Five Days and Still Panic Abound

Five more days until I move into my apartment at Embry-Riddle. I'm still walking a fine line between going to the school I've always wanted, and flying back to New York to think of something else.

There's a $5,000 gap...

I'm a little stressed, but I still feel good and pretty confident that things will work out. Even though I got turned down for two more loans, I haven't given up, and it will have to be a really bitter ending for me to do so!

Just talking to a lot of you guys here on the forums gives me so much inspiration and the energy to want to keep this up. Any encouragement, chocolate, flowers, teddy bears, or money would be appreciated!

Or just seeing you guys on here... *sniffle* I'll keep you updated! *salute*

Seriously, I'm starting year number 4, and I'm sitting here with a $7500 gap in loans due to financial aid's incompetence. You'll get used to it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Just hang in there, and go knock some doors down at financial aid until they do what they're supposed to be doing. The whole damn place is a huge bureaucracy, so you just need to do some ass kicking on occasion to get everything done.
 
I fully encourage you to keep finding the proper loans required to suit your 4 years is it??? at ERAU PRC. Keep hoping and praying and your path to your dreams will be ligntened by a golden light from the heavens. Again I will mention Sally MAe?, also look scholarships online, they're literarly Scholarships out there for everything, age, ethnicity, height, student pilots, and even demgraphics..etc... again Good Luck!

PRC dumped SallieMae for Keybank about 9 months back. That's a shame, since SallieMae would approve a chimp for a loan.

Anyhoo, Keybank loans are pretty tough to get. They have really low interest rates, so you or your cosigner has to have really good credit. If you're really having problems getting a loan, don't hesitate to apply with Citibank. Their interest rates are a bit higher, but they're less picky on who they approve.
 
It's probably too late and I'm sure you've already considered it, but have you thought about ASU? If money's an issue, and seeing as you already live here, ASU is a pretty good option. Scholarships for women are also significant here.

Personally, I think Riddle is ridiculously expensive. You'd be better off finanancially going to ASU or NAU and doing your flying on the side. Have you considered how you'll be able to afford to pay those loans off on a regional airline salary? I think someone said that the cost of 4 years at Riddle now exceeds $100k.

If you are considering the financial aspect, you might as well forget ANYTHING in Aviation, as it is ALL over priced and rediculously expensive!
 
Maybe I can get a little orange kitten, and name him Buttons. Then I can bring him to Embry-Riddle, and if they try to kick me out for failure of payment, just explain how the kitten won't have a home and it will be really sad. Chances are whoever was responsible for the final step of getting me off the campus would break down crying because the kitten was so cute, and then would go and tell financial aid about him. Then financial aid would find a million dollars for me and give me another kitten. And I would name him Sparky or Socks. The end!

Or I could just get puppies, and go the same route. However, I don't think the results would differ too much.

My dad said he might be able to co-sign on a loan now! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif If that happens, I'm all set.

as you mentioned FALCONCAPT in the other post when I mentioned about cost and another cheaper option......and I quote:

What I was saying in the previous post was that if all someone is going to be concerned about it $$$ they should avoid aviation all together... There is nothing cheap about aviation (except the Regionals payscale, but that is another thread! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/spin2.gif )...

In aviation?!??! So not true! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif From what I've seen, the more you dish out, the more of the Shaft you seem to get.
 
so in the aviation field if I spend 150K to go to a big Av school and /or spend 80K to get a 4 year degree in something else, and get all my ratings, (yes I estimated it would cost around that), the 150K would be wlel worth it?
