Well, the weather cooperated today and I was able to do my first solo: KBJC-KFNL-GLL-KSTK...110 miles on the way and then Denver center vectored my through Class B on the way back 'cause I used flight following (Thank You denver approach! And thank you to my instructor for giving the class B endorsement!). 2.8 on the hobbs...ahhhh

Pics from the "road":

It's so nice when VOR radials and your GPS waypoint all match up:

Nice. That looks like a McAir plane. It was a great day to fly. It took everything for me not to run up to BJC and go up.

Yup...McAir 2459K to be exact. It was awesome today. And tomorrow should be better.

Thanks all!

Yeah, if i had not practiced a few shots while flying with my instructor previously, i would have been a little nervous. But, the air was very smooth, and i was able to take the shots. Plus you should see all the out of focus shots and the rejects.....lots of "just shoot and look later" pictures.

When I flew mine, my instructor expressly forbade me from using my GPS. So, were you cheating, or did your instructor give the go-ahead? :p

Congratulations, and great pictures. I didn't take any pictures on mine because I was always too busy looking for my next waypoint. Next hurdle is the LONG cross-country!

I was told by my instructor that i could use all available equipment in the plane. :D Plus, isn't VOR going the way of the dinosaur soon? ;)

And, BTW, I did my long xc (to the same spot with some additional landings since BJC to sterling via the GLL VOR is 114 miles one-way) as well as my night xc over the last 3 days...so now all i need is a checkride for my FAA checkride and it's all over....of course now the weather is closing in quick down here in Denver. Winds are up to 30-40kt gusts and snow is coming for Sunday. Perhaps I will be forced to finish in Massachusetts, but we shall see.

Congratulations!

Looking at your pics makes me miss home. 2v2 was my home base, back when it was 2v2. They changed it to something different now.
