First type rating

Hard 8 for barbecue. Between sim cafe lunches, BBQ dinners, and muscle atrophy--expect to gain 10 lbs.

Stay up in grapevine, south side of DFW is awful.

You'll be fine. Phenoms are stupid simp.
Hard 8 is overrated. Go once for the experience but check out Meat You Anywhere in Grapevine. Cheaper and better meats than Hard 8 and BYOB lol. Definitely stay in Grapevine if you can.

I lived in DFW for 10 years and I'll be moving back for this job. You guys don't know BBQ, you're scraping the bottom of the barrel. What you seek is Heim BBQ. Bone Daddy's is just a strip club with ketchup for BBQ sauce.

Exactly!! And the beer is really cold. Win/Win

As others have said, limitations and memory items. That's basically your oral. Systems are fairly simple, just pay attention in class and ask questions. When in doubt say "system logic". If this is your first jet maybe study the basics of jet engines if you haven't already.

It's a simple airplane really. If you don't have G1000 experience I'd spend a lot of time on the Garmin sims exploring the system. They'll show you the basics, but after 3 type ratings at CAE, I've found that they don't do the best job teaching the avionics/FMS. Basically a you'll learn that on the line approach.

Don't stress too much about it. If you're sharp on instruments and single pilot cockpit management you'll be fine. If you're not, you'll be fine anyway ;)

Just want to say, I've received a ton of help from this thread. I initially thought I needed to know and would be tested on EVERYTHING from private to atp. Now I understand I'm just learning and being tested on a new airframe. In order to be 100% successful I will APPLY everything I have learned as a pilot into the new aircraft. As for the avionics, I used to teach a G1000 transition course to new aircraft owners so I've got a leg up on that one!
