So, I am on the books with the flight school as a CFI. I have my first student this Saturday in a c172. Im pumped. Spending this week doing my multi-comm at ATP, and will cap it off with a student in a cessna. Any suggestions for me with my first student. Hes brand new, 17, and very eager. he knows nothing. Man Im nervous.
 
Congrats on your job and first student. My only advice is to be organized, keep it fun, go with the flow and you'll have happy customers. Where are you instructing?

Ill be at KJYO....Leesburg exec--12 miles nnw of KIAD.

Thanks, I am really looking forward to this. Its going to be a real challenge, a great learning experience, and a real blast Im sure.
 
Make sure and teach him a good pre-flight and use of checklist. Dont be in too big of a rush to start that Hobbs meter. New students are like babies teach them good habits while their head is still soft.

To add to what Ryan is saying, after you teach them good habits make sure that they stick to them and don't cut corners.....or those good habits might turn bad real quick.
 
First lesson, huh?
In that case, I think you should teach him stalls under the hood, spin recovery, and recovery from unusual attitudes.


Just kidding - the stalls don't need to be under the hood - that's probably too much for a first lesson!
