First post...need some help!!!

Hey guys, my name is Greg. I'm a senior at the University of Kentucky. Go Cats. But anyways, I have a few questions. I have been reading the board for a couple days and have found some very helpful information. So anyways, heres my questions:

1) When exactly can/should I apply PUBNTAX? I will be graduating from college in May, do I have to wait until then to apply or can I apply now with the knowledge that I will be receiving a degree in a couple months?

2) Until reading this forum, I had no idea that it was so challenging to become an ATC. Dont get me wrong, I know it's no easy task by any means, but I was just surprised to read that they may be getting rid of the public openings they do and what not. This isnt really a question I guess, just maybe looking for some insights here.

Thanks in advance for your help. I look forward to contributing to the board!

You can apply when the announcement for PUBNAT's open again, however, you must either have 4 years of education (past high school) or 3 years of full time work experience. Or, you may have a combination of both to total 3 years of "work experience." If you do not have that at the time of open announcement, i wouldnt apply. You will not be selected to take the AT-SAT, and your application wont be considered. If you lie, well, then you can get in trouble and possibly further disqualified from future applications.

Next, dont believe EVERYTHING in this forum about PUBNAT's going away. There are so many rumors spreading around like wild fire! Supposedely there wasnt supposed to be a PUBNAT after 6, and guess what? 7 showed up! And after that, nothing further than 8! And guess what? 8 Showed up!

Now while they arent getting rid of PUBNAT's, they are slowing them down. Too many people going through the process that havent finished it, yet they're still trying to cram more down. Be prepared for that!

Thanks for joining us! Welcome aboard!

Thank you for the reply. Now I have another question if you don't mind. If I choose to attend a CTI school, how much better do the odds become? If you don't score a WQ on the test but graduate from a CTI school, do you still have pretty good chances? Thanks

you should probably apply when the next pubnat comes out. I'm a senior as well and already applied to pubnat 8 & took the ATSAT . You can apply up to 9 months before graduation. i knew it was going to be a long process thus applied before i even graduate.
good luck.

I did not know this. Extremely helpful information. Thank you

You can apply anytime you want before graduation. You're not going to make it in 9 months, though.

Also, don't start multiple threads to ask the same question kthx.

Be prepared for a long, loooooooooooooooooong wait. The FAA moves slower than a snail's pace. Expect to wait for YEARS in the hiring process.
