First experience with ANR

I got my new lightspeed 20xlc anr headset that i ordered from gulf coast avionics on wednesday. i had previously been flying with a headset that skymates provided me. on my first flight with the lightspeeds yesterday, i could NOT BELIEVE how much of a difference they made. Made flying much more enjoyable! while on the ground i toggled the anr on and off just to see how much of a difference it made.

thumbs up from frog_flyer

lets hope i dont need to experience lightspeeds "great warranty and customer service"

Cool! I went up with a buddy of mine that ownes part of a cessna with my new Bose headset, was so much better than the ones he has in his plane. He was very much a "$1000! no way" person. I let him try it out and he ordered one yesterday :)

yeah i hear those things are worth every penny.
oh well im happy with the 20xlcs for now.
we'll see how durable they are tho

I'm definitely not going to try and ANR headsets on until i'm actually in the position to buy one. I'll keep my cheapy lightspeed QFR Solo until then. I don't want to use an ANR set and get spoiled. :)

Yeah no kidding I wouldn't have it without trying but it was a gift, but it is SOO cool :) I would probably have gone much cheaper If i had bought it. :nana2:

I purchased DC ANR's very early in my training. I figured.....if I'm going to be spending every day flying, why should I get a crappy headset. My ears are worth it. I'm very pleased with my choice. Yes, they were expensive, but I've had them over 2 years and have never had a problem with them. I still use them today. Infact, I'm very thankful to have them......I'm flying the Saab and it doesn't have the quietest flightdeck in the sky. LOL

Whatever I'm flying, piston or turbine, I knew it was an investment. And I figured buy it once and in the long-run, it'll be cheaper than a couple pairs of cheap headsets.

I tried out the BOSIES too. They were awesome! But not $1000 awesome. I'm really not flying anything loud enough to ruin my hearing right now.

The ear seals will fall off in the summer, but Lightspeed will overnight you a new pair.

I love my Twenty 3G's

I tried flying with an ANR headset once.

It was about as quiet as my normal headseat is when I wear earplugs with it on, which is every flight. You can get ten pairs of earplugs for $3 and they don't require batteries.

Anyone who wants less noise but can't afford ANR should use earplugs...you probably wouldn't even consider ANR after that. I'm buying my students some earplugs this week; I can't wait for them to hear more of what I say.

Two words: rechargable batteries. I probably get 50+ hours out of a pair of AA 2300mAh batteries in my Bose.

You see I was, but then I decided to start replying to a certain users posts with Big Lebowski lines. So now I'm just droppin' the "Calmer than you are" lines.

Vin Diesel will be back, though.

I thought you were the "no headset" guy.

I tried that for a while. The problem was at times it made it more difficult to hear some transmissions. I don’t think I know anyone who has had an ANR set that would choose to go back to a passive set. I know I wouldn't.

I just saw that movie recently... I gotta say that I had hoped for more, but it was still decent.
