As many of you know, I recently left a good job with Home Shopping Network to take a corporate management position with Valpak...
Well one week into the role, I find myself being chewed out for absolutely no reason. New supervisor is hostile and harassing - the likes of which I've never encountered in a professional work environment.
Long story short, I contacted HR to express my concerns. HR agreed that the three of us should meet to hammer out some of our communication issues. Sounded like a great idea and I agreed.
Never happened - was fired this morning after four weeks on the job. The whole - "here's a box, put your things in it - don't speak to anyone on the way out" thing. I only said one thing on the way out. "#$@! you" Gotta love when you get fired for going to HR with a problem. Unfortunately Florida is a "right to work" state, so there's no legal protection of any kind.
So for the first time since I was 14, I'm unwillingly unemployed. It sucks, but at the same time, I knew I wasn't going to stay in that position. There's no job, and no amount of money that's worth being treated like that day in and day out - no matter who you are.
Anyways, I'm hunting for jobs again - which sucks because the Tampa Bay job market blows even in a good economy. Oh well - bottoms up.
