Finally getting back into an airplane.....

Piece of Trash
Well, starting Monday I'll officially be BACK in training again. I start the long drive from MEM to GKY to go to Skymates on Sunday, so I don't know how much I'll be around. I'm betting the crashpad there probably doesn't have net access past dial-up, and I don't wanna be hogging the phone line. There's a couple of places around that have free wireless, so I should be on once in a while just to keep tabs on you guys.

The important thing is I'm finally gonna get everything knocked out. Hopefully, by the end of June/early July I'll be making the "got my MEI and I'm done for a while" announcement.

Good luck Kell and get those ratings finished so you can come out and make the big bucks!!! It is an awesome feeling flying for a living, even if it is just above poverty level.

When in TX, check out Panther City Coffee. Very nice people, good atmosphere, awesome coffee, and free wireless. It's a little bit of a drive, but worth it. It's right next to the TCU bookstore in Ft Worth.

Afraid you'll have to wait for John to get there for the pictures. I left the digital with my wife so she can e-mail me picture of my son. Don't want to forget what he looks like or miss too much of his growing......

I have a question, don't most (major) airlines go to younger students and start them off in RJ's (not saying you are older than the 20's please don't take offense to that). Or is are you just becoming General Aviation pilot?

Thanks

Good luck

Depends on the airline. I think most of them look at your aeronautical experience. There's a couple of 40+ers that I know that went to MAPD, and they're flying CRJs now for Mesa. The CFI I know that interviewed at the same time and was ten years younger got the Dash. Why? CRJ is easier to fly. I know with Mesa they take the more experienced people with aeronautical knowledge and try to guide them in to the harder to handle planes. In all honesty, I've heard of MAPDers washing out of Dash classes at a high rate if they were assigned it. It's more about how much you know about flying and your experience than your age.

I must say I'm jealous!

It's my dream to get back in the air when the kids are in school. That's 5 years from now.

We'll see what happens. Sometimes the future is unpredictable!

Best of luck to you at Skymates! I hope you have a great time and knock out those ratings in no time!
