A legacy is coming to an end, the final 717 aircraft is in the plant, and the end of the Douglas commerical aircraft. A buddy of mine took some photos for his project and here they are....

Really! I will keep an eye out for it! I will be heading over to the 717 Plant a lot more....

What a great airframe. Rolled out 40 years ago and the 717 is very little changed from the original. I would have loved to fly this version of the DC-9 (which it will always be no matter what Boeing says).

Is it all the same type rating - DC9 through 717?

yup, and they all share the same type certificate data sheet

717 was originally to be designated the MD-95-30

I would think so. I got typed using the MD-80 but my license says DC-9.

Yeah, well i knew the DC-9 and MD-80 were the same, just didnt know about the 717.

One more sad thing happening in aviation, it was a cool plane I am sad that it is being taken out of production. I was actually sadened more when the 757 line ended. The 757 is one of my all time favorite aircrafts.

The 717 and 757 are at the top for greatest weight to power ratio!:rawk:
