Fight in the cockpit....

A man that talks like he's never FLCH'ed before. Please...

I kid, I kid. : )

Ugh, I had to correct a few "northies" about why if your FO is younger than say, 90 years old, "flight level change" is better than asking someone to "FL CH" you.

Derg found a new and innovative way to avoid the profanity filter.

First time I flew with a northie and he said, "Felch me down," I told hem we were gonna have a talk over beers about appropriate language in the cockpit. I had no clue he wanted me to mash the Flt Lvl Chg button.

I laughed because it caught me off guard in the simulator once and then all of the "We had SOPA we had SMAK" whining started.

Now put on your big boy pants and continue the maneuver, son.

There's nothing wrong with using the word "felch".

I wouldn't suggest it, but to each his own.
Is it really that hard to say "flight level change"?

To me, "Select Eff Elle Cee" (which was some of what the -145 crowd said) is equally bad, but fortunately, not offensive.

Honestly, everyone I've flown with calls it "flight level change."

I think their Second Officers are like ours, cadets or lower experience cruise guys. They will eventually move into the right seat as FOs.
That aside, pretty ballsy for the guy and he should be commended for standing up for himself. Of course he may be wrong but it is better to sort this all out on the ground afterward than to have an accident. I wonder where the other two guys (or gals) were during all of this.

...And we'll see ya back around the Ponderosa, Captain. You and your "captains authority" go ahead and fly the jet, just you two. I'll be at the bar when the chief pilot calls and asks why you're flying single pilot. Ciao ciao ciao.
Word!

Derg, I always read "FLCH" as "Flitch."

Definition of FLITCH
1 : a side of cured meat; especially : a side of bacon
2 : a longitudinal section of a log

It's quite a bit less offensive than the other one. Plus who doesn't love bacon? Sweet delicious tasty bacon...
