It's bigger than some cities and it was built away from people on purpose so wildlife would be an issue, not to mention it's supposed to be a secure area so tall fences and thermal cameras don't seem far fetched. I'm unsure of a better option unless you want to create a DMZ around airports with manned gun towers to disable trespassers? With 12,000’ of runway, guessing actual V1 may have been above VR, so essentially at VR. Be curious how far down the runway they ended up stopping.

The camera is oddly centered on the subject? Was it tracking them? For how long? What’s the point of the system in the first place if they can’t alert a crew running down the runway in time?

I'm unfamiliar with thermal camera technology but in that video it looks like the engine was on fire before it hit the person. I don't think fan air would be hot enough for that effect in the video, I'd happily listen to someone with more knowledge. I'll also say the source I read saying it was a female was incorrect, apparently the person was a male and has been identified and it's being described as a suicide. The picture the news showed was a dude with a goatee. Suicide by runway is an odd choice, maybe it was easier than buying a gun in CO.

that one attached to your post is the first I have seen with the full ingestion. No idea if the link destination changed or I never clicked.

In any case I think many videos showing stuff have subject center as it's a video filmed on a phone from the monitor they are watching on?

and that brings up the other thing, I wonder if someone with access and a bit of thirst uploaded a video and is going to be in hot water for doing it?

The camera was moving back and forth between the subject and some deer near the fence. The airport crew did receive a perimeter breach alert but were also distracted by the deer.

There’s a longer version I’ve seen now of him walking up to the runway from where he jumped the fence I guess. His timing is impeccable. He doesn’t jog. He doesn’t half step or slow down. Just a slow steady pace in a perfectly straight line until he just isn’t there anymore. I’m not even sure he looked down the runway at the airplane. Could this maybe have not been a suicide? Maybe some tragic accident. Obviously he should have heard it coming but the timing of his walk is just so perfect. Why not stop and align yourself with the left engine. Which is on the side of the runway you entered on. Why keep walking across and clear the entire airplane to the right engine?

People walking around with headphones and not paying attention get me. Crosswalks without looking. It's not unusual to hear about another person killed walking on railroad tracks....with headphones on.

Indeed, when I was in my 20's driving around with headphones on would get you pulled over as the primary offense.
Now it's not at all uncommon to see people driving with all manner of speakers attached to their skull
