FedEx jumpseat

Well I know you guys love to love Federal Expressions but...Im all about UPS. No such hooey at the real Brown.
In fact, if you call the jumpseat desk at least 24 hours prior, you will have a catered meal along with the crew waiting for you
onboard. Everytime. Period. And they treat dispatchers real nice like.
They still do require proper attire and formal introductions. So just follow the rules and dont mess it up for the rest of us.
Do I make myself perfectly clear, Clarice?

It is not a seating config issue per se. It is in regards to both of those airplanes do not have a hardened cockpit door, therefore all the jumpseats are considered part of the cockpit. Kind of defeats the purpose of CASS if you ask me but that is their logic as it was explained to me.

Someone once told me it's an ALPA thing. Pilots before dispatchers. As a matter of fact, in some of today's carriers Jumpseat priority listings that haven't been updated from the old ALPA days; an OAL pilot has higher priority than employee dispatcher. Whether that's enforced is still up to the PIC.

Like who?

Might be true at some carriers with their Jumpseat priority listing, but not at others that utilize the first come first served method. Still kind of a mixed bag out there.

That makes total sense, seeing how the only person to assault a FDX crew and try to crash the plane was an OAL Dxr... oh wait.

I know FDX has a policy for the C208 feeder operators that dont allow OAL employees to jumpseat since you would be at the controls, and ironically company personnel can jumpseat on them....
Tho anybody can jumpseat on the ATRs!

I am not sure if I see the logic behind why OAL dispatchers cannot jumpseat on the B767/B777 since most of us are all in CASS..even some of the FedEx crews I have talked to seem to be dumb founded by this as well.

If there is someone from FedEx in Dispatch in this forum, can you please PM me.

Agreed but FXMXC described it best. Hopefully they will revisit the issue in the near future.
This is the deal on those a/c..The 777 does not have a hardened fortified cockpit door it has a sliding curtain it actually has 4 nice seats in whats called the supernumerary area as well as the cockpit jumpseats so with no door they are all considered cockpit jumpseats. On the 767 ALL the seats as well as the lavatory is in the actual cockpit. Right now OAL dispatchers can ride on us but no cockpit access so that means no 767/777. Hopefully FX security will revisit that and change it for DXers don't know really why they have that policy OAL pilots in CASS can ride with no problem.
