Fedex C208 Drivers...

I found our A models (pt6 & Garrett) are much more stable at slow speeds just above stall and way easier to land short compared to our grand. Off the runway the A's are comparable empty and the Garrett has a slightly shorter take off as weight increases. As for ice, a booted 675 has no business in it, the Garrett's are completely different animal in ice.

Text book ice only building on the boot, the Garrett has the power to keep the speed up at 12k to keep the boot clean.

Clear ice getting behind the boots, well it is still a Caravan airframe, but the Garrett takes a scary situation in a 675 and gives you more options/time to get out of it.
Inb4 @z987k "trace". :)

Never flown them but i'd avoid any serious icing in them. I've heard guys in trouble in ice and trying to get on the ground as fast as possible. TKS ones may be better but remember your TKS supply is limited. Other than that have fun, the guys I have run into FBO's seem to enjoy it.

They are limited to "moderate" icing only and the Cessna training video made it very clear that you must have a plan to exit the icing before you ever even get into it.

Take note of the complete lack of ice on the leading edge and prop blades as compared to where there is no TKS protection on the spinner. TKS system works great!

That is the thing... I wonder how many pilots actually do a good preflight weather briefing and have an exit strategy in place before departing into icing conditions.

TKS works very well.

Do the TKS Caravans still use a hot plate on the windshield or do they use fluid for that now?

No hot plate. The TKS system has a "windshield" setting.

TKS is awesome! I loved having it, especially in the NorthEast Winters. Yes the TKS supply is limited. but the majority of the run in our system were so short that I think I only reached Min Dispatch about 3 or 4 times in one winter, even in moderate icing conditions.
