Favorite Time of Day to Fly?

Any time of day, as long as I'm getting over $150/hr for it!

But since I'm not, I'll say sunrise in summertime, with a cup of Dunkin Donuts in one hand, and the yoke in the other.
 
1. First thing in the morning when the sun is coming up and there is a slight ground fog.

2. Sunset with the sun setting over Tampa Bay and the Gulf.

3. Any time on a clear night.

Oh..let me add: I'm really not all that fond of flying in the afternoons here in FL....especially during the summer ...... those people cookers my FBO calls "airplanes". ;)
 
Have any of you flown to Europe before? My favorite time would have to be when you see the sunrise at 3AM. Or else either sunsets or sunrises in the cessnas...

Night flying rawks!

It's so much smoother, and the vis is usually better. Plus it's not as busy and you don't get the guys flying who are the once a month, when it's really nice guys clogging up the frequency.
 
When I flew to Deutschland it seemed like the sun set about takeoff then about 3 hours later over the Atlantic it rose again. That was a few years ago so I may be off on the estimate. It is crazy though, amazingly I fell asleep and the plane was all dark and everthing, then I woke up and I thought God had made an appearance it was so bright in the cabin. Then I looked at the screen and found out we still had like 2 hours left in the flight...:banghead:
 
LOVE to fly at dusk. Dawn is nice, but too early for me. Dawn is ideal for perfect weather. Of course the Sunday afternoon flight to the $100 hamburger place is nice too.

When I take people up flying I usually take off a little before dusk then wait until it gets dark so they can see the city lights, then land at night.

If you get a chance go to Alaska around April or October, when the sun just stays in the sunrise/sunset position. Try avoiding January when there is no such thing as a sunrise

I know that all too well. Try Sweden. In the winter it's light for like 1/2 hour. In the summer it can be light for 23hours. I love it, but screws up your biological clock. That was the most productive 4 days of summer I've ever had, no sleep and didn't care/notice. :p
 
When the Army first sent me to Alaska, I was 18 from California, steped off the plane to -53F in January and didn't see any sunlight for about 3 weeks. Talk about one depressed little boy.
Then at drinking age and coming out of the bar at 3 am and putting your sun glasses on in the summer is bizarre too. Or changing your oil at midnight. Really messes with your head when you sit back and think about it.
 
Night time...with little moon. I hate putting on shades at night because the moon is too bright.:)

Flyover, you have that backwards. Dawn is bar time, and dusk is time to go flying.
