Favorite shirts

Back when I wore such things, I had the Pilot House shirts. They were excellent as far as durability and long term appearance, but they were not as tapered as the ads might lead you to believe. At 5'10 and 155lbs, I was nearly swallowed up. Of course, in the Van Heusens, I looked like I was playing dress-up in Dad's closet...

I love them, they are very high quality, same cut and needle work as a dress shirt. They are cut in a way that they stay fitted but stretch out nicely when you need to move around, The Athletic Cut were around 35 USD back when I bought them, used mine in very hot an humid climate so they got washed a ton of times. I always carry a 3rd day beard, the collar looks like new.

I was looking for something with a bit higher cotton %, I got a 100% cotton one but they would be really hard to iron, I don`t wear an undershirt and couldn`t stand the feel of the synthetic shirts.

Their customer service is amazing too, after I bought the first one to test it out, asked them if they could make the sleeves shorter, they did!
 
Van Huesen sucks, mostly because they're apparently a one-size-fits-all cut with a nod toward America's obesity problem. I had a couple from my freight dog days taken in at the dry cleaners and they're not terrible once you actually have them fitted. The only redeeming quality is that they're extremely easy to iron.

A Cut Above is the best so far. They just look so much better in terms of fit. The collars are awesome. My neck gets awful rashy with shaving and wearing a collar and tie, but the padded Cut Above collars don't irritate me at all.

Our company contracts with M&H Uniforms which makes a nice shirt, but the the sleeves are a bit too long and the collar still irritates my neck.

I'm a Cut Above guy until something better comes along... Even if their logo looks like a penis with wings. Actually, maybe I like that part too.

I'm not fat (just the opposite), but I manage to wear the Van Heusens, and they look better even without alterations than both the Flying Cross and the M&H shirts I have.

Try a flying penis shirt. They really do fit so much better. Especially for thin people.
 
I just got a couple of Van Huesen Aviators, pathetic. My old ones weren't bad in terms of quality, but something had changed. The material of my new ones feel about 50% thinner than my old ones, they are bordering on translucent. It's incredible how bad they are, I've had thicker napkins at budget restaurants.

Suppose I'll try the cut above ones.
 
How about for taller people? More specifically, I have had Van Heusen shirts and they always come untucked when I sit down. It is very annoying to always have to re-tuck my shirt when I get out of the seat. I am 6'3" and Van Heusen shirts seem to be made for people under 6'0".

Cut above tall sizes are perfect.
 
How about guys that are not the small, skinny type but not fat. I'm in shape 5'10" 185lbs. The m&h tapered has worked but I need a shirt that is the same size: chest and belly. I like m&h because it irons well. I ordered a cut above. Returned them because the material looked so cheap and was basically "un ironable." I like the professionalism of the tapered and don't want the mushroom material of a more relaxed fit. I'm just looking for a little more room in the belly area. Any suggestions?
