Favorite/hardest airport to land at

God, sometimes I scare myself.

No, what's scary is that I can sing the "Dukes of Hazard" theme song without looking at the monitor during karaoke.

Now THAT'S scary my friend.

I see a duet coming in Vegas.

Think about it. A black man and an Asian guy singing about good ole boys, never meaning no harm?

Oh, my God. How funny would that be? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/insane.gif

Hilarious!

The crowd will expect me to sing: "J'us a good ol' boyeeee" and they'd be expecting you to sing: "Ju'rst a gurd oat bo" but when we break out with the Queen's English, it's going to be a show stopper! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Man oh man, I wanna go down to Cedar Key sometime... any takers? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

My favorite airport to land at so far is Andrews-Murphy (KRHP) in NC

I've seen some pretty interesting fields flying in the Navy. My favorite is Gibraltar. About 6000', 1/3 of the runway extends out into the water, they have to stop traffic that runs from the border in to Gibraltar since it crosses midway through the runway, watch out for Spanish territorial airspace since they don't like the fact that the UK has a prime piece of property right in their backyard, and oh yeah, don't forget about the big rock just to the south of the runway.

Overall, just an awesome place to fly into, and not a bad place to hang out at night.

In my experience..........Telluride Colorado in the winter, BY FAR! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif I hate that place. Nothin' like almost exceeding tire speed when landing with an 8-10 knot tailwind in a Lear 55. Vref: 138 + 8kts on the tail = /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif ground speed. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif Even in the summer, it's un-nerving.

I can do that with "Informer." How's THAT for scary.....

I have it on a karaoke CD somewhere. Yes, I'm the freak with my own CDs, get over it. Find me a place in Vegas that will let me use it (or has it) and it's on.

A licky boom boom bam?

I'll say the airport where I did a lot of my primary training at... GA27 (Mathis - formerly 84A). It's about 1500' x 20' with no lines, no lights, and no numbers. Basically it's a land-based aircraft carrier with a slight curve and flush-mounted grave markers on one end (RWY 03 approach end). Watch out for the winds through the valleys at each end and the trees on each side. Here's more --> GA27 at AirNav.com

I would love to fly into some of the airports ya'll are mentioning. It sure keeps you current in one way or another.

Hazard, KY is pretty interesting at night.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It's even more difficult for me once I'm out of the airplane there at night.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

God, I forgot about Hazard. It was so long ago. But it's a fun one, especially at night.
