I think the worst aviation movie I've ever seen was a made for cable (USA i think, maybe TBS) movie a few years back where a bomb threat is reported on a plane and at the end of the movie some lethal gas gets into the cabin killing a jumpseating pilot who went to investigate it, hell I can't remember. I can't remember for the life of me what it was the name of it was, maybe this will ring a bell with someone else.

I think you're referring to
Nowhere to Land, with Jack Wagner. I didn't think it was
that bad, for a made-for-TV movie anyway. Nothin' to write home about either.
I agree with Fearless.
Flight of the Phoenix is another one of the greats. I'm curious about the new one too, though I don't have my hopes set too high. You know how remakes usually are ...
As a matter of fact, now that I think about it,
Fearless, with Jeff Bridges, is probably the best aviation-related movie. It's not directly an aviation story, but rather deals with the post traumatic stress disorder of an airline disaster. Amazing film.
