Favorite and Least Favorite Airport

My first landing in the CRJ was to 36 at HPN. After that I just figured landing the airplane was damn near impossible. I was shocked when we got back down to Philly how stable it could be on final.

I just did it again yesterday.. at least now I know its coming ahead of time now..

windshear! windshear! .. yeah, yeah.. I know lol:D

Jake Busey, Starship Troopers. While it's nothing like the book, this scene is actually straight out of it. It's when he asks Zimm why they're being trained to throw knives in boot camp.

More often than not, jetlink crews in particular seem to keep it within the realm of sanity. I can't say the same for...oh, I dunno...let's say Eagle ATRs, just for the sake of argument. ;)

It's kind of funny, really. I'd get slowed down from time to time in the MU-2 by RJs, but nearly so often. The controllers seemed to know that you were going fast and intended to stay that way. Whereas I think they just see "KingAir" when they see a 99 and assume you're some nancy with time to burn. Funny because the mitsi actually required some time to slow down, being somewhat slick, whereas the Flying Barn Door (aka the 99) can go from redline to 120 in like 30 seconds. Further argument for controllers to get at least a PPL (and presumably further argument for RJ pilots to have a reasonable amount of experience).

PS. Avatar? Benito Mussolini? The Empire Strikes Back? I'm confused.

I hear ya...screw the new IAH Terminal E security plan. I'm still going to the front.

I took the "Disney Land-Small World-3 mph-once every 15 minutes-train" today since I had time to kill. I got to B and there were about 2 people total going through the checkpoint, with 3 lanes open. It was great. The security situation in IAH does need fixin'. Oh hey I've got it! Kick out XE, they complain too much. Screw those ERJ's, Bring in Q400's for Colgan, they won't beotch and moan ;) /Flightinfo

On One Of Those Other Sites, someone has a pretty nice avatar of a FedEx Caravan with a big red circle and line through it with the caption "GET OUT OF THE WAY!"

Amen.

On the other side of the equation, I'm constantly slowed to stall speed to let some RJ set up for his leisurely ten mile 747 pattern at 140 knots. I'm ready to do 232 knots to three out and I'm falling out of the sky because somebody's Profile says Stabilized Approach from the next state over and they're in a Jet so they must be fast! Grrrrrr! It's not a race!? WHO SAYS!?

If you want to fly it fast.... the CRJ-900 is a pain in the butt to slow from 250 once it's on glideslope without putting the boards out. If only they'd certified the Vle to 250 like the CRJ200.... we'd be fine...

but.... on the flipside, I have had the Caravan killlllll my profile. Slowed to 160 knots on a 20 mile final.... yeesh!
