Famous People...

Now that I'm flying the planes I never really see anyone famous though we did have a couple of Cleveland browns players on an ATL flight the other day.

So the sucking sound in the back wasn't coming from the engines? :)

As far as how they board and how they act depends on who you have coming on. We had a state Governor on board two days ago. She preboarded from the ramp out of a black SUV. The thing was though she sat in 1B so EVERYBODY walked by her to get on board. I'm not sure that people even knew who she was, but there wasn't a big show about it.

Likewise, we had Dave Chapplle on board a few weeks ago. He went out of his way to talk to people and sign stuff. He even came up front and said hi.

Now, if somebody is quiet and just sits in the back and does their own thing, then fine, I don't see a reason to talk about it. They are just trying to get somewhere and that is that. However, if they play their public persona up while onboard then I have no problem talking/writting about it.

Met a few famous people working in theme parks: loaded John Travolta on Space Mountain, John Lasseter (the guy from Pixar) on Buzz Lightyear, talked to Robert "call me Bobby" DeNiro while his family road the Tomorrowland Speedway, and pointed out a nice shady place for Christie Brinkley to hide. I worked the grand opening for Islands of Adventure and met Steven Spielberg, Will Smith and did private Triceratops Encounter shows for Michael Douglas and Bonnie Raitt.

The only one related to aviation was when I was taking a break in the baggage claim area in MCO and Danny Glover came in on a jetBlue flight. They lost his bag, and the baggage claim office was right next to where we were sitting. He was not happy. I said to my friend "Uh oh. They lost Sgt Murtagh's bag." I kept expecting him to come out of the office and say "I'm gettin' too old for this $&^." :)

my old CFI buddy ran into this lady. I don't know who she is though?

I sat right behind her on a DTW-LAX flight and didn't even know it until we were getting off the plane. The whole flight I kept thinking who is this chick with the sunglasses and big... ummm...hair. Seriously, it was billowing over the seat.

After the pax deplaned, the FA says, 'Did you see Vendela?!' No, who's that? The FA then shows us a popular magazine with Vendela on the cover that apparently she had left in her seat. Some calling card.

Another time, again after the pax are gone, the FA says, 'Do you know who Jim Brown is? He was on that flight. Some football guy, right?' Uhm, YEAH! About 5 minutes later I run into Coach who is just beside himself with giddiness, 'Dude, guess who I just saw!!!...'

I think it's somewhat unprofessional.

If I was a celebrity and shopped at Home Depot...I wouldn't really care for an employee of the corporation I was doing business with to go public with the type of materials I was purchasing. I probably wouldn't care for the employee representative of the airline I was flying with to go on and on about what seat I sat in and what airports I was flying to and from.

Don't have major box's like Depot but do have smaller hardware and sporting goods stores. I generally just give good customer service and leave them alone.

I don't know, but she looks kind of uncomfortable though. Do you think that your buddy could crick his neck over any further? Looks like he's going in for the kiss. ;)

The other day I had Ted Nugent on my flight from Waco-DFW. He looked exactly the same as he always does. Camo clothes, that hat, sunglasses. I think that he might have been sick though because now I think that I'm coming down with something...

Cat scratch fever that is. :)

A few people I've flown:

Batista (wrestler)
Missy Elliott
Rev Jesse Jackson Sr.
Wayne Newtons band

I think a few others, but they escape me right now. I don't really remember who I fly, because I normally don't know until after the flight when the Flight Attendant goes, "OMG we had so and so on this flight! It was SO cool!" Like Missy? Hadn't a clue until she was at baggage claim and an Ops person mentioned it. The only ones I knew before hand was Wayne Newtons band, only because their equipment maxed out the cargo compartment and nearly put the poor Saab on it's tail...

Did have a nice conversation with Lester Holt from MSNBC (used to be a CBS 2 Chicago anchor) in Houston when the trains shut down. Walked over to the busses to get to terminal B. He mentioned his brother flies for Alaska Airlines which I thought was cool. Very nice man.

I still can't believe there IS a ACT-DFW run. It's barely over an hour in a 172.

I think that we have 7 flights a day DFW-ACT. It's usually fairly full. That's the life of a turbo-prop guy though.

Takeoff-get the atis-land.
Rinse and repeat. And repeat. And repeat. And repeat.
Short overnight in a small Texas town with a long van ride.
Get up early and start again.

I don't remember the last time I had to use a low-alt enroute chart... It's all SIDs, STARs and radar vectors.

I can't believe the celebrity status 47 wings between two people can get you here.

pffffft. I consistently put down a full order of 35 by myself when I indulge, course my stomach sticks out alot more than usual, and I freak the employees out, but damn I love wings!

"Direct Dodje at or below 10,000 resume the arrival"

I wasn't working this flight but on one of our flights from BOS-HPN we had Hillary Clinton onboard along with her bodyguards. Imagine from riding Air Force 1 to a Beech 1900 that has a nice smell of BO from the early 1990s.

Also our ACK, HYA, and MVY flights we always get celebs in the summer.
