Ben was was of those fellas on here that I always thought that I would like to meet. After reading his posts over the past few years, you start to get an idea of who the man was, and his impression on me was that he was a passionate about his family, flying and the outdoors. Incidents like these are always tragic. Lets all remember Ben Hill, pray for his family and lets this be a reminder to us to fly safe.

Tailwinds brother...

Remember how when MikeD was in Iraq for Christmas and we all rallied together to send him a care packet - we ended up sending over something like 11 boxes. I think (although it is early) we should have our Christmas fundraiser for Ben's family - considering how much free help Ben provided here, I think a lot of people should donate the cost of 1hrs of flying - I am sure he saved many people a lot of money!

You know I was thinking about this exact same thing while laying in bed last night. To be honest I was thinking about Mike's Christmas. I was thinking about how neat a community JC really is. Total strangers from across the states and world unite and help other aviators and human beings. With all the crap going on in this world its nice seeing the good humans still have in their hearts.

Wasn't expecting to read this this morning...terrible.

Something I took away from NJC this year is that even though we may not have met, I feel like I can count you among my friends. When we do meet, it's like old times.

I may have never shaken Ben's hand, but he was a friend.

RIP sir. :(

No doubt the people that contribute here often are good people, from all different persuasions, and when it REALLY matters, we come together in a great way. This website may not be completely unique in that aspect, but it is indeed rare, and so are the people here.

My wife makes fun of me because I don't have a lot of what she calls "real" friends - the type I go out with on a regular basis. But I feel lucky to have the friends I do on here - and would do anything to help any of you out. Even you Turkey :)

While reading this post, "I Hope You Dance" came on the radio, made me tear up. To one of our own, who when given the choice to sit it out or dance, danced...

RIP buddy.

Just contacted UVU. They are setting up a fund and will contact me with all that information as soon as it is all set in place.

I didn't know Ben but I don't think he would mind me passing along a few things that he would likely want you all to know. He would want to thank you for your friendship and urge you to be extra careful and safe out there. He would want you to know that life is unpredictable and that you should savor every minute of it. He would also tell you to take care of your families and loved ones, showing them every day how much you love them as you never know what life has in store for you. He would also likely say that despite this horrible accident, aviation provided him a place of comfort, a sense of accomplishment and pride in achieving what few others will.

Your friends and family will miss you Ben and with every beautiful sunrise and sunset, they will be reminded that your spirit will always be with them. In Ben's memory, may we all strive to be better people and be reminded about the fragility of life.

Rest In Peace
