I remember how proud he was when he posted this ... just not fair.

Re: Plane Crash in Provo, Utah

Maybe we as a collective group can pitch in and help defray some of the expenses that are sure to come to his family. Doug?

My heart aches for his family.

Re: Plane Crash in Provo, Utah

I never met the man, but for what it's worth, short of Doug, BD was one of the most recognizable and familiar names on JC, at least in my experience.

Nice thought. I would expect his obit would have perhaps a fund at a local bank that could accept donations, but if not we could do something ourselves.

I did not know him, I am new to this forumn, but I will say while it seems unfair, and many will grieve, ' It truly is better to have lived, loved and lost, then to have never lived or loved at all"

I say this as someone who has lost 3 good friends to Aviation in the last 2 years, and I know that I may lose more, but like my friends, I am sure Ben was persuing life to the fullest and remember him for that by continuing on.
To those of you who knew him well carry his memory in your heart and he will live on, mabye post your memories of him as a way to honor him.

Re: Plane Crash in Provo, Utah

RIP partner. Was great talking with you here.

As an aside for all, get used to this in aviation. Flying is one of those activities that comes with so much joy, fun and challenge; yet can turn and bite anyone of us with little to no notice....whether by our fault or not. Sometimes we're able to overcome it, sometimes not.

As I've always said here regards aviation:

"Anything and everything can happen at any given time, with or without prior notice....."

Enjoy the skies for eternity partner. :(

Re: Plane Crash in Provo, Utah

Whoa met him at NJC'07 too. He constantly posts photos of his family and kids on FaceBook. He will be very missed. RIP man.

Yeah, this is the second guy I've known to go down in an aircraft. I hate to say it, but the first one was a bit easier to swallow (despite having seen him the day before) because he was 100% responsible for what happened. These mechanical errors hurt in a different way. Man, this just sucks.

Am up to 4 hands that I can count the number of friends or collegues I lost in aviation.....it never gets any easier. As for the accident itself, just from the generic info in the story, with engine problems and a C-210, one really has their work cut out for them when that happens. Tough situation.

Re: Plane Crash in Provo, Utah

My condolences go out to his friends and family. RIP.

I would love to see this.

I never met Ben, but loved reading his posts.
It's funny, even though we never met, I still have that uneasy feeling as if he was a close friend.

RIP bud, may there be plenty of fishing and fresh pie up there!

Re: Plane Crash in Provo, Utah

What incredibly sad news..... RIP to his family and friends. JC lost a true gentleman. :(

Re: Plane Crash in Provo, Utah

:(

A true loss to us here at JC and to the aviation world.

Always seemed like a really nice guy.

Tailwinds.

May he rest in peace in the land of abundant PBR, apple pie and trout.
