I can't make the funeral, but I'm just curious - does the Church of LDS allow non members into their cathedral for such events?

I sure hope so because John and I are planning on going!

I believe that non-LDS members are not allowed in the Temples, however the churches all have signs saying "visitors welcome." I believe that Ben's funeral is going to be in one of these churches and not the temple

You are pretty much correct, if its a local ward (church), visitors are very welcome.

Do you know if we can attend his service or will we only be allowed for visitation?
That's really up to the family. The church doesn't prohibit it. I'm sure there will be quite a few people there, a few of them non-Mormon even! I'm planning on going.

Thank you for posting the service information, Em.

There will be a huge presence of JCers there, if not in person, in spirit.

Anyone at anytime for any service is allowed in the LDS church. It isn't a temple.

My husband can't get work off but would like to show his respect...is there going to be a viewing the night before?

TheShortOne,
Thanks for posting the picture of his girls, they are beautiful. Last night I spent alot of time with my daughter, time usually spent watching tv or surfing the net. When things like this happen it really puts everything into perspective.

I haven't heard anything, but I would think that there is. I'm not sure though...Can you call the church maybe and ask?

I will watch for his obituary. I doubt I could call the church and find out...I would need to call the funeral home. I will contact the person you gave info to earlier if I don't find his obituary!

While on the subject...who is going to the funeral? I would like to go to show support but don't want to be sitting all alone!

Re: Plane Crash in Provo, Utah

Man, just unbelieveable.

Seeing that picture with his new born. . .makes my heart hurt and my brain want to explode.

RIP man, you'll be missed.

:yeahthat:

Once you have kids you have a different perspective. That photo brought a tear to my eye and I hope his family can find some comfort in the days to come.

Tailwinds my friend.

RIP. I never met Ben but I can tell that he influenced a lot people. I'm going to miss reading his posts.

Tonight I'll be tipping the PBRs
