I don’t think it is necessarily related, but we just “red striped” nearly the entire Martin-baker fleet of ejection seats for a somewhat similar issue. Not “counterfeit”, but a common part amongst various seats, that had been found to have been faulty.

Don’t know anything about this particular mishap, or the findings, but i hope they can get a definitive answer. This is undoubtedly really terrible for the guy’s widow and family.

Not to make light of this mishap by any means, but somehow Boeing will be blamed for this.....
