Failing a CAE/Simuflite checkride

I really enjoyed my time at CAE Dallas, the initial course in the GIII was great, all the instructors were old timers with great stories, and the cafeteria was awesome.

Why is FS tougher than Simuflite?
I've been to both simcom and simuflite. Currently at flight safety for a new type.

Flight safety, so far, is no harder or less client orientated nor is it any more or less professional. It is, however, much more well equipped in terms of study material and teaching aids.

Going to sim school for the turbine suburban cracks me up.

It's good to be thorough, but they do tend to over complicate things. Not having any time in the van or any behind a PT-6 for that matter, it was kind fun going to school and then jumping right into the plane, going to work and having it all feel like I've been there before. That's the whole point, right? The airplanes are always working and we don't have an in-house training program, so FSI really is the best option.

I would much rather have a legitimate sim for the Navajo.

Heard today about an old co-worker failing a CAE checkride today. Totally deserved failure, and that's exactly what the examiner did.

Ahh, the navajo... Would be fun to practice some emergencys without the risk of bodily injury though. I just found out I'm headed back to simuflight next week for a PIC type in the hawker 800!

Even though someone has done snap rolls in a Hawker, I hear it's discouraged. Try to resist the urge.

I hear @Capt. Chaos likes practicing engine outs right after gear up. ..
Only to have it compounded by the check pilot not follow the procedure to restart he has just taught 30 minutes prior and flooding the dam thing. It's right up there taking VS into Windfall Lake with full fuel in a amphib 206 and almost not make it out.

Just left CAE. Good instructors & sim. Didn't feel cheated or as if the training was inadequate. Only had one schedule glitch, which resulted in an hour delay but they persuaded us with cookies.

Thread bump! Its not far down the road, be there in Jan. little of a drift on topic but whats the best hotel to stay at in your opinion's

I stayed in the Holiday Inn Express in Grapevine when I was at CAE for King Air initial. It was very nice, actually, had a great shuttle, and there were 4 or 5 restaurants in the parking lot.

North side near Bass Pro is your best bet. There is a mall with restaurants in the parking lot and several hotels in the immediate vicinity.

I'm here at CAE now, LR60 initial....IMO only one hotel to check into....Gaylord Texan has a great rate for CAE and Bombardier. Free parking, breakfast and Internet.
