Facial Hair In Uniform

I don't mind the no beard thing in our uniform.

Hell, we already look like U-Boat Commanders already.

I had to think about this, but I would likely go clean-shaven wearing a uniform, simply because I feel a bit more....straight-laced, I guess....when I'm that way.

Come on... It's really not that hard to keep your beard and/or 'stash clean. If some dude habitually has lunch left-overs floating around all up in there I would seriously question his ass-whiping and hand washing habits as well. At that point, his facial hair revieling what's for lunch would be the least of my worries...

It's not that hard to keep your shoes shined, the backpack OFF your back and your sunglasses either on, in their case and not on your forehead.

However...

Uniform cops like to point out your non-compliant Snoopy tie tac while ignoring the guy with the yellow wrinkled shirt with the ring around the collar that is only partially tucked in and missing a nameplate and wings.

I saw a United 747 crew walking out to the gate today. All 3 had backpacks, none had hats, one wasn't wearing the a tie, and I swear one had black sketchers on. I'm not the kind of person to be bothered by that usually, but throw in their body language and expressions and the trio just looked flat out depressing, like they just didn't care anymore. Sad what must have happened throughout their careers.

Had an Ameriflight dude ride the jumpseat the other day. Looked like he hadn't shaven in about 5 days. Not that he was asking for my approval, but really? If you are going to ask for the jumpseat, have the decency to shave. The captain could have given him the boot and not even blinked.

I have witnessed this with other 135 pilots, not good. Contact their jumpseat coordinator and let them know what is happening out there. Beard, boots, and big belt buckle-TMC pilot. You've made your point, in fact, nobody wants to fly there.
