****FAA Reauthorization Act of 2009****

D Day!

My husband was informed at work that a resolution MUST be agreed upon by the end of this week. Since I HIGHLY doubt they will be discussing this on a Saturday or late into the night on a Friday, my hope is today is D-Day for future pay and such!

Well according to one of the guys in my class who's FACREP is in DC right now negotiating, things are going well and we will definitely have an answer by the 20th - when he will be back in town. According to him our pay is going to end up somewhere between current new hire levels and green book. The official word from the FACREP is, "Things are going well," whatever that means:P.

My husband was informed today by the NATCA reps that a resolution would be here tomorrow. I think it is kinda like the sign that says, "Free pie tomorrow"

TeeTee,

Any word on that free pie today? You seem to have an ear in the NATCA kitchen lol
They put out a statement yesterday, June 6.

Sisters and Brothers…

The mediation process is rapidly coming to an end as we work through a
few remaining issues. The contract team has been putting in 17-hour
days since we began this negotiation just three weeks ago. Their
passion, dedication, and professionalism in representing the interests
of our members and the future of our profession has been spectacular.
I am very proud of the work they have done, and I believe you will be
too.

As I reported to you when this process started, it was expected that
the expedited mediation process would continue through early June
2009, resulting in a new collective bargaining agreement. That has not
changed; we are almost there. And as I told you all before, the
details must remain confidential until the process reaches its
conclusion.

Based on all the email I’ve received and reports from the RVP’s, the
anxiety level among our members is growing. I know it would help if we
could simply state what’s been agreed to at this point and give you
more details of the process, but unfortunately that can’t happen right
now. We have been subjected to some of the worst treatment an employer
could possibly level on its employees for the past 3 years, yet we
have persevered, remained focused on our goals, and put ourselves in a
position to secure our professions, our members’ future and our Union.
We must be patient and wait a little while longer for the parties to
finalize our negotiations; it is in reach. Let us focus on staying
united in purpose, as a new day is dawning for all of us who are
employed by the FAA.

We have all worked very hard over the past three years to get to this
point, and now we are here… Our goal of a fair and ratifiable
agreement remains this Unions top priority – for controller and multi-
unit members alike! The future of our professions is of paramount
consideration, and the goal of a collaborative relationship with our
employer in developing and implementing the next generation aviation
system is the direction necessary to secure our future.
On Friday I met with Administrator Babbitt for a few minutes to
discuss the status of the negotiations and of couple other issues that
need his immediate attention, most notably the splitting of MEM Tower
and TRACON scheduled for tomorrow. The Administrator was non-committal
in our discussion to either stop the split or go forward, but he did
state he understood the issue and got the message on its importance to
the Union. We will continue to work this issue right up to the last
minute to try and delay the split until NATCA has had the opportunity
to show the Administrator why the split isn’t a good or necessary
action.

Thank you all for staying united during the darkest days our Union has
experienced. Your dedication, determination and activism have paid off
once again, and are a testament to the men and women who belong to
NATCA. Our passion and concern for the future of aviation is unmatched
throughout the world, and I have every confidence that our Union will
succeed in whatever we determine to pursue.

We'll see what comes of it.

I'm holding my breath, but my advice is, don't. I dunno, but the amount of stalling and forced waiting in ALL aspects of the FAA seems unparalleled. We'll get an answer when we get an answer and if it was sometime within this fiscal year I'd have to start going to church again.

seriously, al you people that keep saying, "I heard this" "my husband heard that", its all rumor and your just fanning the flames here. Noone knows when or if anything will get accomplished. the only people that can talk on it and people on the negotiating team and they aint talking. Its in negotiation and when its complete, we will hear. Stop spreading rumors and scuttlebutt, getting peoples hopes up or inciting discussion based on pure conjecture and opinion.

Completely agree. Some of you aren't even with the FAA or through the academy or facility training yet. Take baby steps before you jump into the pay issues and then know what your talking about.

thats not very nice:(

instead of putting down the future of ATC you should be glad that they're doing their best to get involved and support our future.

Well, all I was trying to say is that although I understand the anxiousness, the FAA is ridiculously horrific on doing anything in a timely manner. I dunno who's fault it is but..

And, I must disagree with having to be deep in the FAA for the need for concern regarding the current events. Personally, spending over a year of my life towards this goal certainly warrants enough importance. I just ain't biting my nails.

Pretty much voicing my opinion cause I'm bored sitting on my couch with my girlfriend who is watching Jon and Kate + 8 wondering what I can stick my sticky little peanut fingers in trying to be part of the FAA while they take what has it been, 3 months to decide if I'm mentally fit? God I love run on sentences :)

First of all, no not everyone on here is a full CPC/ATC with the FAA. The truth is I have watched the ATC section of this forum grow from a small section that basically existed so that pilots could ask ATC questions to a place where ATC and future ATC could discuss the going ons of the FAA, including a ton of hiring and OKC information.

If everyone were to "stop spreading rumors...inciting discussion based on pure conjecture and opinion" then a lot of this forum would be dead.

There are many people on here that are future CPC's. They will be the future of ATC and NATCA. They are deciding whether their hard earned money should go to the NATCA.

I think that this is something that is worth discussing. This is something that can and will affect them. No the previous pay was never theirs so they can't complain about the pay cut; however, who doesn't discuss when there is a possibility of a company wide raise or pay cut for that matter?

I have no clue on what is happening but I have even mused with the fact that they raise the retire limit, new hires could be fired to help appease CPC's salary wishes and entice them back. Do I think it will happen...I don't know...I am not taking out any possibilities!!! No this is not a rumor...it is something I think and have wondered about. Now because that is a thought of mine...an opinion does that mean that I can't share or discuss it?

Also I want to clarify...yes I did say that is was D-Day...I also said that it was also like promising "free pie tomorrow". The pie and tomorrow never really arrive! There is no guarantee of change but I don't think that means you can't discuss. I simply shared what had been shared at work several times with my husband. Was I out purchasing and house and counting on that money...no. Did I find it interesting information...yes!

As an outsider it took me a loooooooooong time to really understand the situation with NATCA because 1. Either side is so totally biased and 2. No one was really willing to talk about it.

Forums are a place to pass ideas around. No one here has inside facts. Think of this forum more like you and your buddies sitting around drinking beers. You would voice your opinions plainly and make predictions about what will happen. A bunch of people trying to make sense of what is going on is not the same as spreading rumors.

I need people who aren't afraid to shine a light on what it really going on because if I go to the people involved I'm only going to get the piece of the story they want me to hear.

Good analogy. I know at my facility my friends and I talk everyday about what we've heard, read, think, guess is going to happen. No harm in that right?:dunno: The next contract is a huge deal to a lot of people and it should be on every controllers mind so isn't it natural that we all want to talk about it or discuss it?

And seriously, if people on here are pissed about the number of rumors being spread on JC, you should see the speculation and rumors floating around the NATCA BBS right now....
