FAA Party Time $5 Million Wasted!

Government managers don't need holiday parties while their leadership is chiding private industry for doing the same thing WITH THEIR OWN MONEY.

PROFIT is the reason private industry can do this. The fact that you've made money (or avoided excess losses) for your investors and the investors choose to reward you with these sorts of events. Either way, it is THEIR own money.

The FAA is one of the better government bureaucracies in my opinion as it has a very pertinent and immediately identifiable purpose affecting many peoples day to day actions.

Its an absolute waste given Obama's rants about corporate jet expenditures.

The problem here isn't the drinking and after hours debauchery it's the fact that they had to have a conference which was paid for by taxpayer money to do something that could have easily been done via video-conferences or by paying a small team of trainers to go from region to region to brief those same managers. They say "it wouldn't accomplish the same thing", BS your telling me a room with 1200 highly paid federal middle-management types is somehow more "personal" and apt to get the "true meaning of the culture change" across than a video conference?

it needs to be pointed out that these were not controllers at this "conference" It was the FAA Air Traffic Management who wasted all this money. The whistleblowers for this story were Air Traffic Controllers.

So don't hate on ATC just hate on the FAA.

Good distinction. I was lumping them in there.

Of course they do, but it is not my money.

A stripper and a hooker are fundamentally different axioms, my friend.

It's one thing to throw a dollar up on stage during a bachelor party, it's something else to stroll into an Asian Massage Parlor in the Philippines with no clear intention of receiving a back rub.

Post of the Year!:rotfl::clap:

If you overpay an attractive stripper, well, it just feeds their ego.

If you overpay a semi-attractive stripper, well, that's a party! :)

1st Rule when in a Strip Club: When you give money to a women...makes sure she works there.

Working for a fortune 500 company i've been around my share of these things and I can tell you that nothing pisses people off more than watching management bask themselves in opulence why your eating a McDouble and drinking water because the electric bill was 3x what it was the month before. Case and point; last week my company had a cheezy Christmas party for all the working stiffs at a some dumpy Mexican food restaurant were our only choice was soft or chunky tacos no booze. Well after all that was over the big bosses had the entire Tommy Bahama café rented out for themselves and spent no telling how much. Nothing wrong with enhancing moral but far too often people forget who really makes the trains run on time and its not management! Moral of the story, we never would have heard about this had the FAA taken care of the working stiffs.

Give me a break. What does that video show? To use your word, NOTHING. I see people having a good time after hours. What is wrong with that? I saw reporters getting kicked out of public space in a private building. Nothing wrong there. That is the hotel taking care of its guests.

Do you have a good time with your friends when you go out? I hope so and what is wrong with that. The way this is presented is nothing more then the media being the media.

Then why don't you foot the bill, instead of all of us (the rest of us tax payers) paying for an obviously excessive "conference." And with the $5mil. spent on this, I don't want to hear anything more about GD user fees. How would you feel if they had this party after just having paid to do 15 touch and goes?

If they have that kind of money, maybe they could have thrown some to a certain FO who slept in the crew room on the accident day because she couldn't afford a crash pad?

What amuses and dismays me is the education level and intellect of our Masters this time around. At least the French got to cut the heads off of genuine intellectuals and aristocrats. When our time comes we're going to have to content ourselves with hanging a bunch of moronic self-impressed stuffed-shirt middle managers from lamp posts. Doesn't have the same impact. I mean, honestly, where's the glory and honor in pulling some middle aged, communications degreed (with an MBA, of course) fatass or ambitious-in-a-sad-way former Model UN nerd aparatchik from his H3 or Porsche and lighting him on fire? I suppose we'll have to make do...

And not even the cool Porsche either. We're talking the pre-bust Cayman where some of the $30,000 "millionaires" were able to swing a 24 month lease.
