FAA Party Time $5 Million Wasted!

I stated I don't want privatization but this makes the FAA look like crapola with the economy the way it is right now. More people may think privatization is the way to go. I saw the expose on World News and what the showed wasn't great. Yeah we all enjoy a beverage here and there but unkowingly admitting almost getting arrested because you were drunk is not good.

On a side note:
Today at lunch four drug company representitives were sitting behind me and what they shared amongst themselves sounded like lobbyists waiting to rape the taxpayer. No wonder we are so screwed up.

Ah, I totally misread your post. But, to the layperson the fact that they fly jets around the country must look bad too! I mean, do they need a private jet to check approaches? They should get a 152! ;)

The $5 mil is chump change compared to the 22 BILLION they want to upgrade the 'system' as quoted in the last paragraph.
Another conference attendee asked a female ABC News undercover reporter if she was a "hooker" because "I was ready to reach for my wallet."
--Wouldn't that make the reporter question her outfit?

If the under cover reports are dressed in a way that would illicit that kind of response it is hard to believe they were on the up and up while doing their reporting.

Well look at it on the bright side. At least some money is being spread around to stimulate the economy lol. I'm quite sure the vendors that benefited from the $5 mil spent are pretty stoked right now.

Think big picture here folks. It works to get people together. They talk and share ideas. This is something you cannot do over the phone or video. If each one of those 3600 managers found a way to save 1500.00 because of the get together the FAA(read taxpayers) are money ahead.

Give me a break. They had no intention of doing anything but partying. I've done these things before and NOTHING productive comes from it at all.

$5 million, eh?

They must have hired the attractive strippers

If you overpay an attractive stripper, well, it just feeds their ego.

If you overpay a semi-attractive stripper, well, that's a party! :)

Why am I suspicious that my above quote is going to end up as a signature tag? :)

I'm telling you gov't jobs are where its at! Don't deal with 90% or the crap that goes on in the private sector. ATC is a 100k job within 3 years with no training costs.

A stripper and a hooker are fundamentally different axioms, my friend.

It's one thing to throw a dollar up on stage during a bachelor party, it's something else to stroll into an Asian Massage Parlor in the Philippines with no clear intention of receiving a back rub.

I've got no problem with them throwing a x-mas/holiday party. Everyone deserves one (even the TSA). But $5mil! COME ON! Reminds me of the gov. giving the auto co.'s crap for showing up asking for money in a buisness jet.

FAA: "We need a bunch of money to overhaul the ATC system."

Congess: "Didn't you spend $5mil. on a holiday party?"

IIRC didn't another gov. agency or some politician end up in hot water for some thing very similar? Or was it a bank that got bailed out or something because of a very, very similar circumstance?

it needs to be pointed out that these were not controllers at this "conference" It was the FAA Air Traffic Management who wasted all this money. The whistleblowers for this story were Air Traffic Controllers.

So don't hate on ATC just hate on the FAA.

Give me a break. What does that video show? To use your word, NOTHING. I see people having a good time after hours. What is wrong with that? I saw reporters getting kicked out of public space in a private building. Nothing wrong there. That is the hotel taking care of its guests.

Do you have a good time with your friends when you go out? I hope so and what is wrong with that. The way this is presented is nothing more then the media being the media.
