FAA NOTAM Modernization

Looks like the Canadians are trying to fix our NOTAM system.

I really wish they would just go with this

There were some folks a few years ago at ADF who were looking for a "problem" to solve for their startup...they had seed money and technical ability to program, but they didn't have a problem to work on.
I told them I thought a way to quickly visualize snd apply NOTAMS in a visual matrix might be worth working on...like...it would not be the sexiest problem to solve...but being able to effectively visualize the flock of cranes south of the airport and brief yourself on them would be worthwhile.

If my captain is flying at 178 feet one mile from the runway at LAX...we've likely got bigger problems.

I have no idea what became of it.

They're not fixing the NOTAM format, types, or any of that. NOTAMs as you know them today will all stay the same. This project is simply the infrastructure they use to publish the NOTAMs. They're trying to move away from SWIM into this new system, and they are using all the fun tech buzzwords except for the most fun buzzword "AI". Unless there is a second part to the project. Anyway, this was rescheduled for Monday June 30 at the same time.

Didn't realize swim was being moved away from. Color me out dated, isn't swim like the big thing they are trying to implement? Or at least increase usage of?
