FAA must reconsider regulating airline seat size as spacing continues to shrink

I bought a DAL ticket a couple days ago and they tried to get me to "upgrade to Main Cabin" for like $25. I thought this was weird since I bought a Y ticket. My initial thought was "are they planning on tying me up in the wheel well, where else would I sit?" Well it turns out that these people want me to pay 25 bucks so I can select a seat, have the ability to pay for upgrades etc. and some other frilly stuff. Well I had no idea that the airlines were becoming this bad nowadays. I remember being in 8th grade when I had to pay $25 to check a bag, now I have to pay that just to select a seat. And nevermind the fact that some of the seats are "select" seats which are more money for the exact same seat as the one next to it (no additional legroom). I used to always pay for the upgrade to Y+ because I thought it was a good value but now I apparently can't even do that without upgrading to main cabin first. So when people complain about ULCC's I always laugh because DAL now could almost be considered one now. I'm just shocked I don't have to pay for a carry on but I just tell myself that next time I fly I probably will. I wish I could have FAM flighted but oh well.

grab their carry ons
Arguably it is a normal human reaction to the aaaaawegonnadieeee situation to attempt to remove yourself from it entirely. You came with a bag you will try to leave with a bag to minimize the stress.
If everyone could think straight in emergency situations, there would never be any news of stampedes at mass assembly events

The coach seats these days are made for a 5'0 petite woman. Good luck with 3 adult men with wide shoulders side to side. One gets elbowed by a fa or pax every 5 min, one is hunched forward the duration of the flight, and the other is smashed at an angle against the window. Don't even get me started on the arm rests.

Just get rid of the seats and herd the cattle into holding pens instead. Standing room only

I would be curious to see what percentile of the population are being tailored to with airline seat construction.

I get if you're a Human yeti or have some weird anthro measurement it's gonna be hard to accommodate you. At the same time I see some airline seats and think the same thing when I go to some antique store and see what used to pass for a "full size" bed.
