FAA Head Denies Pilots Sleep in Crew Lounges

flyingbum, that is one of the most disturbing avatars I have seen lately.

Hahahahahahahahhahaahahahahaha..............:yup:

Yeah I'll probably change it soon. Best I could do on short notice. I Found it on Google Images...... Searched for flyingbum.

And now folks, your debate about Mr. Babble continues...........

I think all you 121 guys need to rally crews together, and start sleeping in the terminals. What would they say then?
Need to catch a few Z's in the terminal on a 4 hour sit in RDU.

Keeps us fresh for the rest of the 15 hour day.

So after my 6 leg day, followed by my 8 hour overnight (5.5 behind the closed door, 4 with my eyes closed, almost zero in REM), I cannot sleep in the crew room barcalounger during my 4 hour sit that is surrounded by another long 6 leg day? So on top of the already ridiculous day, I need to sit upright and play tiddlywinks for 4 hours? Babbitt is a complete and utter idiot. Really. We are all dumber for being a part of this. The the noise my farts make utter more sense.

Yet, we concede again. I saw a cot leaving our quiet room the other day.

Welcome to the club. Now you know what his controllers have to put up with.

Glad I'm retired and out of it.

I used to work at a busy FBO. We had a crew lounge with Lazy-boys and couches that pilots would sleep on all the time. I don't see what the big deal is. If a 121 employer says something like "we don't want our employees sleeping on the job" ..... Well then they should be paying you for sits.... Since pilots are not paid for sits, then the answer is pretty clear to me. They have no control over what you do during that period. If an employer is not getting you a hotel for extended sits...... well....

I find it easy to believe that Colgan 3407 was not enough. Here we are two years later and it has pretty much been forgotten by the flying public. Then this Babbitt character comes along and spats pure balderdash at the flying public. They will easily eat it like a fat boy on Twinkies. The media fails horribly on aviation related issues. Actually..... they fail on everything. Funny how the gov. works. Anything that lacks reason, logic or common sense, is greeted with a "That's a great idea" attitude.

I bet your bottom dollar that they're pilots sleeping at FedEx, UPS, and DHL hubs.

There are no pilots sleeping in airports!

"I bet your bottom dollar that they're pilots sleeping at...UPS"

Heck yeah. We even have company provided, IPA negotiated, beds in little cubicles with sheets and pillows. Even in Ontario.

That hour or two of power napping really does wonders for us flying on the backside of the clock. I don't think it would be any different for the day dwelllers.

I even have my own persnal bunk in the bunk room at "the company".

He should of visited jfk ops when my last company was based there.

It's still the same. Only, our sleep room is so small, the sleepers often spill into the crew room, officially inducting Babbitt into the realm of politicians lying to the general public.

'Couse the other day, I head them talking about turning the JFK "sleep room" into another office. That'll kill the "rest" for a decent chunk of people....

You figure as the former leader of ALPA, being "Mr. Schedule With Safety" he would be all over rest and fatigue issues, but it seems like he's just enjoying his government pension and the daily noontime sandwich board.

Actually, he's working quite hard to get the new NPRM done, in spite of intense pressure by the ATA and RAA who are lobbying like hell to stop it. Maybe we shouldn't attack the people who are trying to help us.

:yeahthat:

For anyone that actually watched the clip, all he said was that *airlines* had told him no pilots were sleeping in crew lounges. I have no doubt they did and that his statement was correct.

He acknowledged that there was a disconnect between what carriers were saying and what pilots were telling the media, which is probably 100% accurate.
