FAA Furlough, will it affect medicals?

Has anyone heard whether or not the recent FAA Furlough is affecting the processing of special issuance medicals? I've read that employees paid from the FAAs Operations account are not affected, but I can't find anything that tells what positions would be funded out of that pool.

Doc, did they communicate anything to you about your patient applications being affected?

Awesome! Thank you for the information doc. I suppose I'm just paranoid since my wife's certification as a nurse practitioner has been delayed because of that pesky Minnesota state shutdown. I'm glad to hear the FAA deemed this essential.

Does anyone know if the same is true for the Washington staff as well? I'm awaiting a special issuance approval from them.
