Thanks for the reply.. the reason i asked the question was because in india the Class 1 medical dates are available only after 1 year. so thought of getting a FAA class 1 and than apply for a DGCA class 1.
i know i would have to go through the medical tests all over, i wanted to do so just to make sure i get a Class 1 medical date ASAP. do u think this would be possible ?
The system in India is currently pretty backed up due to the Aviation Boom going on there. There are only 3 centers where you can get your Class 1 Initial medical done. These are: New Delhi, Bangalore and Jorhat (Assam). New Delhi and Bangalore aren't available until early next year and Jorhat until the end of this year. If you do not have an Indian License (PPL or CPL) or a US License, you will have to first complete a Class 2 medical and get a file number from the DGCA. You can then use this file number to request for an appointment from the centers for your Class 1 medical. In order of preference, New Delhi is the most convenient to get to with Jorhat being the least. Bangalore is the toughest. You cannot convert or get a Class 1 in India based on your FAA Class 1. For more information you can go to the DGCA website at www.dgca.gov.in or the Yahoo Group call 'indianaviators'
