FAA Announcement AAC-AMH-08-PUBNAT1-08232

I just rechecked my preferences and they got deleted like everyone else's. What would happen to people that don't have this site? They wouldn't have any prefences listed!
I can't believe how disorganized and confused the FAA has been. :panic:

I've been checking my preferences daily and they continue to be deleted. I've even changed them up thinking they were looking for something else but they continue to be deleted.

What email address or phone number are you guys/gals using to contact the ASAP for questions reguarding the errors?

The geo preferences page seems to be working... both states, facility option, and comments are up (for now at least)

I called HR last week about this very matter. I was told not to worry about it in the least. I described the situation: My Terminal selection was still there as were the Counties I selected within my state (California). Neither State field was showing anything. She said that though she didn't have the ability to access the webpage for geo selections, that our selections have already been received as we sent them initially, and not to worry. I asked her 2-3 times if she was sure, and the answer was yes.

When you initially got the email did anyone end up pulling someone else's info when confirming the email for the geo pref? Just curious because it happened to me and when I called them they said they had received a lot of calls and emails regarding the situation.

That happened to me the first weekend the email went out. Everything has been correct since then.

So, what happens if we changed our preferences or added to our comments? Does this mean that they only got the info the first time?

I called in today to have my preferences confirmed because they kept getting deleted. I had made changes to my locations and even though they didn't appear for me, the lady on the other end of the phone read it right out to me. Updated changes and all. She was extremely pleasent on the phone, but was kinda difficult to get ahold of.

I've got a question...

I applied on this announcement and put 'student pilot' on the application. I just recently earned my private pilot license; is there any way to update this? any idea how much benefit a pilot's license would give an applicant?

thanks

Don't think you can change anything on ASAP after the closing date, but you may be able to update it by calling the Aviation Careers Division. I would try that as soon as possible if I were you, even though I'm not sure if it will make any difference on the application.

My two cents... maybe a slight advantage (I was a student pilot way back in 2002, btw), but I wouldn't be terribly concerned about updating it in ASAP. Either having a student or a private show that you have an interest in aviation and know something about flying airplanes... however, ATC is a totally different profession from flying and until you can demonstrate to your coworkers (through your dedication and skills) that you can perform the job safely and effectively, every trainee is viewed similarly regardless of any prior flying experience.

My two cents. in the couple of tower tours and one center tour that i have done, the controllers have told me that if you have a pilots license and someone has an emergancy in a plane similar to the one you have flown or are flying, you would be familiar with the systems of that airplane, what needs to be done for the emergancy, the best glide speed, etc. that is where the license applies. however once asap closes I don't think you can update your data. If you make it further you can state in an interview that you recieved your license on such and such a date if questioned on it. Congrats on the pilots license. :rawk:

No benefit

I was just wondering if anybody had spoken with OKC regarding referral lists being created. I am pretty sure the deadline for submitting your geographical preferences was the 25th so the referral lists should be the next step right??

If anyone has spoken with them and knows when specific states are meeting or when the next boards meet, please post. Thanks in advance.

I had spoken with the manager of HR at the FAA Regional Offices in Des Plaines, IL. She told me that they are still focusing on last year's applicants. She said the Feb. announcement won't have a PEPC until June. She said to check back on the ASAP page after June 9th for an update.
