FAA Announcement AAC-AMH-08-PUBNAT1-08232

I have created this thread with for a couple of reasons. The main reason being is that it seems no one can get any answer about the timeframe for testing, interviews, or training dates for the last nationwide OTS announcement. I'm hoping that people who applied for this announcment will keep everybody updated on when they are testing, when they get an interview, etc.

I first hand know that anything you do involving a government job takes way too long, so hopefully we can share are progress and get an idea when we can test, interview, etc.

Personally, I was told so far via the ASAP website that I have been selected for the AT-SAT. This happened for me two days after the announcement AAC-AMH-08-PUBNAT1-08232 closed. Since then I have heard nothing from the FAA (and I have called the "help" number).

Great idea MJ, I'm in the same boat but will post when I get a test date scheduled or hear anything else

Ditto for me. I actually called Aviation Careers about a timeframe for AT-SAT testing and she sounded frustrated, telling me the contractor handles that and she didn't know anything.

Same here. It seems reading this forum as well as a couple others the best thing we can all do is be patient and expect a wait to take the test anywhere from two to five months. Also, if the rumors are true that this announcement was for fiscal year 2009 (begins Oct 1, I believe) then I really wouldn't expect anything soon. The waiting definately sucks and it only has been a little over a week, but it is a part of the process. However, I too will post when I hear anything.

hey ya'll welcome and yep get ready to hurry up and wait. i know it is very frustrating i had to wait 7 months before i could take the test. from the time i was selected to take the test until i took it was 5 months. so have fun and hurry up and wait.:banghead:

Ha! the phrase "hurry up and wait" is one that I got to know very well in the military. With a little luck, we will all here something soon. Thanks for all the replies.

Was anyone not authorized to take the AT-SAT or know of anyone who was denied? It just seems like anyone who submitted an application is now authorized to take the test.

man i cant belive you people still want to work for the FAA,well you all have been warned.

I know of some people that have not been authorized for the test, but that could be due to the fact that they recently (within the last 2 months) have taken the AT-SAT test. If you already have a score, is there really a need to take the test again?

Your ATSAT score applies to all your applications, past and present for I think it's three years.
I do not think the FAA would authorize anyone to re-take the ATSAT unless your score has expired or you didn't pass that ATSAT.
For about a year of checking out forums, I have never read of someone re-taking the ATSAT.
The ATSAT is the FAA's "IQ" test if you will, to determine if an applicant is capable of learning ATC. The FAA does not want you to study for the ATSAT either.

Before the AT-SAT was implemented the FAA had about 65% success ratio for new hires to become controllers. Afterwards, it shot up to 92%. I'm a rated controller and i've seen alot of smart people not being able to do this job. I 100% agree with the fact it takes a certain type of person to become a controller. I know a handful of people way smarter than me that never made it as a controller...

Does anyone have any information on how exactly the referral lists are determined? If you list X, Y, and Z states - what determines which state you are referred to? Also, you can be referred to multiple states at one time, right?

For the OTS announcement it was requested that applicants choose the "Throughout the Nation" option and that specific duty locations will be determined later so I am not sure when/how the referral lists come into play...

Great news! I just got an email this evening from the contractor who administers the AT-SAT stating they are offering the test in my city sometime between March 13th and April 2nd. I have to reply by March 7th (of course I did immediately!) to reserve my place for the test. This is for the recent public hiring announcement that ended on Feb 15th. The text of the email is follows:

Congratulations, you have been selected to take the Air Traffic Selection and Training (AT-SAT) test in the subject city. The test will be administered for the FAA by Robinson Aviation (RVA), Inc. We plan to administer this one day test between 3/13/2008 to 4/2/2008. In order to ensure a slot in the test, contact the AT-SAT Program Manager Bob Oborsky, (123) 456-7890 or reply to this email with you current address and phone number not later than 3/7/2008. Alternate location may be available by calling (123) 456-7890). This email will be followed by a letter, once you confirm your slot, you do not need to confirm it a second time. The letter simply insures that we do contact you.

Looks like this hiring wave is going to be moving MUCH faster than last summer's, considering many folks from last summer just took their test a month ago.

you aint lying took me about 8 months in all...finally getting an interview...march 20th in miami...good luck sooner you should do fine pretty easy test:bandit:

Once you have applied for a state, the FAA will considered you interested in that position. I'm not sure how they determine the referral list, but once you are on the referral list and the selection panel for that state goes to OKC, they will be able to choose you.
Now here is something I learned(heard) today- All VRA applicants interested in that facility must be chose before they dip into the general puclic pool for that facility.

:yeahthat:, Just got the same email...

GlideSlope: Congrats - where are you taking the test? I see you're in KS - ICT is actually one of my top preferences for facility. Where are you wanting to go?

Beehive: Do you know who makes up the hiring panel for each state? Is there one rep from each facility on the hiring panel for that state? I contacted the facility manager for my #1 choice of facility and he told me to let him know once I have a completed package on file with HR (I'm still trying to figure out what defines "completed"). I think I'll contact him once I learn that I have been referred to OK.

Cheers.

Im hoping to go to LAS or MKC but ICT would be cool. Im just not to excited about going to Wichita(in Salina now).
