FAA Academy Housing & Class Schedule

Hello all. I am a general public applicant sch'd to attend the academy on August 6th. I am waiting on my FOL, but was conf'd by OKC HR. What are the best choices on FAA approved apartment complexes? Which is nicer and in a safer neighborhood? Closer to the MMAC?

In addition, what do the class schedules look like for general public, terminal candidates.

Finally, what the heck is there to do in OKC? I'm sure it's a nice place, but coming from Washington, DC and how busy it is here, OKC could be a different world.

Thanks!

Hmmm...what is there to do in OKC? I'll have to get back to you on that one. :sarcasm:

I'm sure there are things to entertain every one...Not real "UP" on my OKC. BTW....where are the casinos in relation to the Academey?

The best place to "go out" is bricktown which you will easily find once you get their b/c everyone knows about it.

Dude, whatever you have an interest in doing...it's here in OKC. I don't do the club scene, but if that's what you're into, there are a few. I'll let others speak to that though. If you want something more family friendly, there are TONS of parks, lakes, two theme parks (Frontier City/White Water Bay), a world class university just down the road that's definitely worth just walking around the campus. There are tons of restaurants, and as my twin just mentioned haha...Bricktown. Our minor league baseball team plays in Bricktown and is great for something to do on a summer evening. Don't let those stereotypes of Oklahoma ruin your stay.

I am attending En-Route beginning July 14. THERE IS NO HOUSING!!!!!!! I have called every FAA approved place and nothing is open until at least mid-August to September. All the ladies I spoke with were saying, "Blame congress, they don't hire any controllers and then they hire thousands and expect there to be housing for them all." It was funny. Anyhow, if anyone is attending July 14 and knows of a place or wants a cool, clean roomate (I'm a dad of 3-leaving the family behind, and will be flying home most weekends)let me know! Hope the freeway underpasses are clean!:laff:

Is that bar with 100 beer taps still there? in the downtown area. I loved that place, can't wait to patron it again.

They mean blame the FAA. I didn't realize it was Congress' job to micromanage every Federal agency.

The place in Bricktown with all the taps is called Tapwerks. I'd recommend living downtown if you want to party cause you won't have to drive. Remington Park (racino) is on the east side of town and isn't a far drive at all. The only bad thing is that they don't run the horses there in the summer months. There are a couple more casino's within a half hour drive.

Lets see here...they are Indian Casinos, so I belive you only have to be 18 to play. As for limits, yeah, there are limits on the tables...to what amount, I have no clue. I usually look for the minimum tables anyways, never do look at the max :)

Tapwerks is definetly a bar to hit up...all kinds of different beers to fill your tummy and make your head spin :)
