F9 and NK

Should we start working on it now, and be ahead of management? :)

I’d say the majority of the decision weighed on where the bases are.

I live in Chicago, so ORD would be an option for both. Spirit seems to have a bigger presence in ORD right now, but Frontier is growing.... not sure if they're going to add gates in the future. Spirit, I would imagine, will likely grow a little in Chicago with their new plane order as well -- again, pure speculation.

ORD growth is based on gates for both companies. When term 5 is done ‘21-‘22, F9 is supposed to get 4 more gates for a total of 6-8 permanent gates. Until then ORD is stagnant as we will be opening other bases in that time. ORD is not going anywhere as it draws from such a large population group and realistically if F9 left ORD, it wouldn’t get back in.
Both companies are a great place to be right now and realistically, they are the same thing when it comes down to it.

If you want Chicago, I’d look at Spirit more, Chicago is Frontiers smallest base with no immediate plans for growth.

You can hold it out of training though... so just depends if you are ok with reserve on your couch or not. Personally if they want to pay me year 2 pay to fly 4-6 days a month, I’ll take it every day!

How about first year pay and flying 12-16 days per month? planning on flying one trip per month sounds like a recipe for disappointment.

I’m cool on the 75 guarantee, but I also have supplemental income. I’ve just been flying day trips, but you have the ability to aggressive pickup on reserve. Go over 75 hours or fly on a day off? It goes on top of your guarantee.

Yeah? Spirit is also in the same place today as they were in 2016. Hiring and upgrading a ton with deliveries scheduled for the next 7 years.

So with the Spirit orders, where do those fall in with the backlog the Airbus currently has? I would figure it’s back of the line with the new order?

Nice, yeah at Spirit you can’t pick up when you’re on reserve. In the same token as a line holder you can drop to zero if you wish, F9 you can’t. It’s all about what works best for you long term at the end of the day.

Being able to pick up on reserve has made commuting to reserve a lot better. Definitely a major bonus. Kind of surprised more airlines can't.

F9 6 months of the year you can drop to 60. I guess it’s an insurance thing? Who knows but I think it should be 0 myself. Picking up on reserve is really nice living in base too, as most trips I would get called out for are picked up before it gets to me haha Being on reserve on my couch gives me time with the family.
