eye twitch?

Hey Doc,

Any idea what might cause someone's eye to twitch? Mine has been doing that off and on for a couple of days. I just started allopurinal for gout, any chance this is a side effect, or is it probably unrelated?

Is it your eyelid? It happens to me when I am under stress and have been lacking sleep.

Once, my eye twitched for 2 solid weeks. Then, as quickly as it started, it stopped.

Sometimes when I'm really tired or really stressed, the area just under my eye will twitch. It's very annoying, but goes away as soon as I get some sleep or deal with the cause of the stress.

Ya know what? It's probably just lack of sleep. Seems like this week I'm only getting like four or five hours a night.

It is not related to the allopurinol. Usually this occurs when one is tired or under stress.

I've been having that on and off this week in my left lower eyelid...seems to have stopped though.

could that occur with dry eye?

sometimes i get a thing where it feels like there's a piece of sand in my eye (when there's nothing there)...typically under the lid...is that a dry eye symptom?

Yes, that is a dry eye symptom. Use artificial tears.
Really a problem here in PHX.
