Extracurriculars

But in case you want to see what the 5% on either side of the crazy scale is, there's something for everyone.
"Okay. Yeah. Thank you for calling. Have a great day. Buhbye."

hangs up, walks off like:

I thought the same until our TA failed. I've lost respect for so many people and generally avoid most interactions.
That sucks, Mike. You are an inspiration of what enthusiasm in aviation and what enthusiasm in an airline should be… it makes me unreasonably upset things there are effing with you.

ANother vote for being just another cog in the machine. Do your job (youll like 95% of the people you fly with) and go home. If you want more tasks theyre easy to volunteer for. At this stage in life, I have no desire to go to the school house like a 9 to 5 er. I like good overnights and the freedom they provide (alot of the times that means slam click, sometimes it doesnt). Do no short sight yourself over some perception from forums. I can't stand a high percentage of the regular posters on our company forums, but that doesn't represent the reality of what it's like flying on the line.
What forums? You mean the ones that got shut down because of the same blowhards that acted like a bunch of 5 year olds?

I hope one of Mike's hatches gets a small leak that drips on his face every second Thursday of the month.

To the OP:

CoffeeIcePapers response is pretty accurate. Its really not too bad.

Part of any struggle new to 121 as an FO, is you learn to be whatever breed of chameleon suits you in the moment, or your personality.

Most guys you can always find some level of candor that makes for good conversation, and for those that you cant, there are always options.

You can (usually) “study” whatever your currently interested in, or, my personal favorite, reserved for those that are well beyond my level to empathize and connect with, add fuel to their fire…Im sure its poor CRM but boy is it fun to me to ramp someone up and feed into their deluded realities (on both sides of the spectrum) at cruise on a transcon redeye.

I had the funniest conversation with a friend of mine the other day who ive talked with alot at/about work and he gave me the highest compliment i could imagine…”Dude, i gotta ask cause i really have no idea…(where are your larger political views”.

Be a chameleon, then when the brake is set on the last leg, and you strip the uniform off, be you and don't give it a second thought. Do your job, fly the bird, keep the standard, and its truly the easiest money youll ever make.
