Interesting plane. I haven't flown one but have read they have some performance deficiencies compared to similar aircraft. Slower than a Meridian but great fuel burn and good range when lightly loaded.Anyone know anything about this airplane? Anyone flown one? They look pretty amazing from everything I've been reading.
For a second I was day dreaming about a 500 horsepower Extra 300/330..
I went up in an Extra years ago. It was skill I lacked not horsepower.Yeah, I went soft quick to.

There was one on the atlantic ramp in Burbank a few years ago. It was n registered iirc.
Ah a 400. I didn't realize the 500 was a tprop.A 500 or 400? It's the same airframe just different powerplant, IIRC. I've seen a couple 400's in the US
So a pressurized turbine that is neither IFR approved or FIKI? Sweet.IIRC, the Extra 500 has only had a FAA Type certificate for a little over a year. I remember seeing ad's in magazines for them a decade ago. Neat airplane, if you've got the coin.
But in reading the type certificate, its not known ice approved nor is it IFR approved at this time
Oh, so it's like a propeller Eclipse. So a pressurized turbine that is neither IFR approved or FIKI? Sweet.
When I think Extra 500, I think "Darkness!" (Thank you, Chappelle.)So a pressurized turbine that is neither IFR approved or FIKI? Sweet.
