ExpressJet To Provide Service for Midwest?

I just read on airliners.net that there's a rumor Expressjet may get to put 20 of their 69 planes in service with Midwest Express Airlines. Can any of you fine people confirm this? If it is true, this is good news for XJT.

It's Midwest now. They dropped the -Express and the cookies. Anyway, I wonder if that would mean an XJT base in MKE if this rumot ever manifests itself. I suppose it would.
 
Several different companies were bidding on the RFP. It's not even due back until early July.

Also, the RFP is for 15-25 50 seat aircraft. And I would think XJT would certainly be the front runner as Midwest wants a "premium" product.
 
It was "Midwest Express" before and now "Midwest Airlines" and they still have the cookies.

2nd......tick, tick, tick.........Sound of clock ticking until the "Express stole our flying' comments start popping up.....
 
Not a bad rumot, and certainly superior in quality to some of the other gibberish floating around. All the same, we wont know what the Big Guys have in mind till it's announced.

I have seen good things so far, and have faith. I sincerely hope my faith is not misplaced.

Does anyone realize how small YX is and how much an increase in capacity an additional 20 aircraft would be?
 
Darn, I am hoping they take Mesa's United flying and ExpressJet starts bases in Denver and DC... I would apply to that.

Why would you stop shopping at Wal Mart for a box of Cheez-Its if you didn't have to?
 
Don't know about that. According to Airline Pilot Careers magazine (how and why did I get this mag?????)...

"Continental Airlines recently announced that Chautauqua Airlines will operate up to 69 regional jets that will be withdrawn from its capacity purchase agreement with ExpressJet Airlines, Inc. and it's parent, ExpressJet Holdings, Inc. should ExpressJet choose to return those aircraft to Continental."

But...then again...consider the above source too.... it's Air Inc.

Because you prefer to shopt at Target and pay about 3% more for a much better product and shopping experience.

When I shop at Target I don't have to deal with all the screaming babies/children running wild, I can actually get my cart down the wider aisle without bumping into a million things that are in the way, the stores are much cleaner and far more organized and when I get to my checkout lane it doesn't take me nearly as long and everyone speaks my language. I also noticed that the parking lots are usually better thought out and the spaces are slightly larger so that when I get back to my car it isn't all beat up by the moron (see screaming kids above) that parked next to me when they opened their car door on mine.

Now when I get home, I feel good about eating my cheese-its from Target :)

That being said, when it isn't your shopping/flying experience, the lowest bidder wins and Mesa stays.
 
Yeah but the Wal-Mart is right down the street, and you need to save every cent you can, what with gas prices and all.

Uhh...yeah that happened in december. XJT has announced the planes will not be returned so CHQ will not be flying them or probably anything with a blue globe on its tail. CO has since offered a RFP for 70 seat turboprops and orded a bunch of new 73s.

As for XJTs future, it's anyone's guess what will happen. I'll believe it when I read it in my complimentary copy for the USA Today on a long overnight in BFE. Right now folks are saying some corporate flying is all but a done deal and YX and AA connection flying are in the works.

OMG how can you say that? Thats almost offensive, to us Milwaukeans the cookies are a big thing to the whole city. Its a tie between Midwest Cookies, Beer, and Harley Davison motorcycles.

I doubt this rumor is anything but just a rumor, Midwest already has lots of feeder planes flying with them with Skyways, plus Expressjet is their competitor in some routes.
 
According to our Direct of Flt Ops. weekly voicemail at XJT, we bid on the Midwest flying. The bid supposedly closes at the end of June I believe he said. I also found this....

Subject: Regional Fleet Analysis

As you may know, Skyway has been actively seeking to purchase additional
Fairchild 328 regional jets to move toward a one fleet type and improve
operational efficiency. Recently, it has become clear that the cost of
32-seat 328s has been going up. At the same time, it appears that the cost
of 50-seat regional jets has been going down.

We believe we may be able to add 50-seat regional jets to our network for
close to the cost of additional 328s. These additional seats would grow
capacity and improve business results by lowering our cost per available
seat mile. In addition, 50-seat aircraft could open the door to new markets
for our airline.

While our analysis to this point is incomplete and many details have yet to
be explored, we have also decided to evaluate whether further cost savings
could be achieved by using a third-party carrier to operate 50-seat
regional jets. Plus, it may mean that we could add capacity and explore new
markets much faster than by acquiring only additional 328s.

As I mentioned above, many questions remain unanswered. Potential vendors
are being invited to submit proposals that will be evaluated to determine
if we could obtain substantial savings with no reduction in quality. The
evaluation process should be complete by the end of summer. Please be
assured that you will be the first to know when we have more information.

Take with a grain of salt.

But I read last week on flightinfo in a XJT thread that XJT will open up three new bases and put an order out for 100+ jets with options.
 
Sort of sucks for Skyway huh? They have provided a really good express product for MidEx and now they are going to be loosing potential growth. Or I guess they may be bidding too. Could you even fit a cookie oven in an ERJ galley?
