As I understand it, the contract had holding company language in the CBA. The average line pilot thought they'd be protected when Company A used Company B to buy Company C, or at least have leverage to negotiate. The weak MEC chair gave it away under threat with the pilots having no say. Later on someone leaked the MEC Chair's pay stub which forced him to resign and actually work hard for what he was pay-claiming. Years later I heard he was in the running for a good pilot job at another airline but the XJT alumni over there blackballed his ass and he didn't get the nod. I wouldn't be surprised if that's happened more than once.
