Express Jet

[ QUOTE ]
I'm interviewing at IAH with Xjet next week.

I had about 800 total time and 150 multi when I applied online. They called be back a few weeks later and asked me to fax a resume. I did that, then they called back a few days later and conducted a phone interview. They asked me some basic instrument questions and some questions about my work history and flight expreience. I answered those correctly and they scheduled me for a face-to-face interview on 10/6.

Hopefully I can get the job if they overlook my size (weight) and temporary lack of 4-year degree (3 years and still working, grades less than stellar however). If not, well at least I got to experience an airline interview. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger I guess.

They did a phone interview with one of my fellow CFI's who had even less time than me (700/130). He botched the phone interivew (didn't know what MVA was and couldn't remember service ceiling on the seminole) and didn't get an interview.

How much actual do you have?

MVA is more of an ATC thing.... That kind of comes into play in ILS PRM approachs with the descending breakout. It is typically lower than MSA..

Not really sure actually when you can "use" MSA... we're always either visual or on IAP's and being vectored.

In an emergency, do you really have a choice!

Kind of like flying 250+ KIAS below 10,000 in the CONUS when you've got a fire.

Heck, I was doing 335 at 8000 20 miles offshore on arrival into KPBI a few days ago. Schweet!

Hehe.... I do love the canadian flying too.

I'm usually in no such hurry though..trying to get to 3000TT so I am elligible for CA upgrade. Block or better every leg if possible!

Yeah, gotta love the FLL/PBI offshore arrivals ... being at 5000' and getting "please slow to 250 for traffic" rocks!

Hi Russ
Over "here" there is no speed restriction below 10 unless ATC gives you one, which is surprissing because visability stinks, there is a constant "haze" of sand in the air, some of which I am convinced has been suspended in the air for 5000 years. The pilots over here ususlally request "high" speed and the standard ATC answer is "I have no objection" The only unfortunate thing is I'm flying an airplane that really has to work ( in a descent ) to get 250.

Sand in the air......we went through turbine blades like it was nobody's business when I was there. You still got Brit Tornados at Al Salem?

Shoulda seen me trying to school the clueless n00bs in my ramp class on the different ERJs.

"So, the XRJ is a 145?" "Yes." "And that's an......ERI?" "No, an ERJ." "Then what's a 135." "That's an ERJ, too. Just shorter and no winglets." "Okay, so the 135 has winglets?" <GAAAH!>

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't there a reg on 250 max below 10,000?
