Experimental Test Pilot. Assist in development and evaluation of flight control and mission system software. Execute missions as an experimental test pilot in pursuit of flutter, loads, high angle of attack, noise and vibration, engine integration, and weapons integration testing. Provide mature leadership and guidance to team of aircrew in support of the test programs. Assist/lead daily operation of the Combined Test Team Flight Operations leadership duties. Responsibilities include: PVI development and assessment, requirements development, subject matter expert on all performance aspects of the aircraft design, subject matter expert for flight test program to include operating limitations development, safety planning, flight test planning, test card development, test execution and reporting.

Degree and typical experience in engineering classification:

Level 4: Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.


Level 5: Bachelor's 14 or more years' experience, Master's with 12 or more years' experience or PhD with 9 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.


This job requires travel to test locations and rotational staffing of test team organizations. Some travel longer than 30 days may be required based on test tempo and phase of testing. Foreign travel may be required. Must be able to pass a preplacement medical examination equivalent to an FAA Class II medical examination prior to employment. Must pass a yearly FAA Class II medical examination as a condition of employment.


The following are required for this position. FAA commercial pilot's certificate (ME Land, Instrument Airplane). Current FAA Class II medical certificate. 1,500 hours first-pilot time to include 100 hours as first pilot during experimental, engineering and/or acceptance flight tests. Graduate of a military Test Pilot School (TPS) or equivalent experience. Military Flight Test experience is mandatory. Operational and/or test experience in F-15 or derivative is mandatory.


The following are preferred skills. Current and qualified in F-15E or derivative. Instructor Pilot rating in F-15E or derivative. Experience in flutter, high angle of attack and electronic warfare systems testing. Able to communicate complex flight test concepts and ideas in written form and/or orally..


This position requires an active (or ability to obtain) U.S. Security Clearance, for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.
