Excellent article!

Great article, but surreal it right.... it would be nice if this was aired on tv instead of in the paper.
 
This needs to get sent to all the major news outlets. Just the ticket prices alone are appualing. But I do hope that this backfires, and flights get canceled left and right. Mr. LaHood needs a reality check.
 
I happened to be listening to LaHood today and I was struck by what a poor public speaker he is. He could definitely use some teleprompter tips from his boss.

As someone who has enjoyed a 6+ hour wait on the ramp as a pax, I actually think this rule is a good thing. I would much rather be waiting in a hotel room instead of being crammed into a coach seat with no food or water.
 
I once endured a 3 hour sit on the ramp just short of the runway (or nearly that long a time) in a BE-1900D.

No Lav... no Galley.. no flight attendant to make faces at the PAX.

After we got our second extension, the Captain and I talked it over, and he made a decision: he asked the PAX.

They voted unanimously to stay and wait.

We were gone ten minutes later.
 
The DOT rule flows from two presumptions common in Washington: 1) that private businesses have insufficient motivation to satisfy their patrons, and 2) that government regulators are capable of making better operational decisions than the people whose livelihoods are at stake.

Someday, maybe our leaders will figure out that neither is usually true. But before that happens, expect a very long delay

I wonder who gets that $27,500 per passenger?... surely not the passenger! THis is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever read in my life. The last couple lines of the article says it all man!
