Ex-777 Captain Looking for work

I'm writing this on behalf of my dad and I am just curious what is out there for him. My dad is a retired American 777 captain who will officially have been retired for 3 years in March. He wasn't ready for retirement yet, but was forced into retirement by the '07 market crash. He attempted to find work with Air India and was officially hired, however it ended up falling through. I'm really hoping he finds something since being a pilot has been such a major part of his identity, which makes it hard to watch him be unhappy in retirement. He flew for 30 years for American and spent the last 7 years of his career as a 777 captain. I'm just trying to reach out on his behalf a little bit and I'm looking for any possible suggestions or places to tell him to take a look. Thanks! Does he have instructor/check airman experience?

I have a friend who retired from DL off the 777 and now works for Boeing on the 787 as an instructor, he seems to enjoy it and that they're always looking.

He doesn't have any check airman experience. The only recent instructor experience is teaching me in a 172. Funny you mention that; he was in Seattle over the weekend and talked to an HR rep there. They said they are looking for a someone for the 777 or 747 to work in Shanghai. My dad thinks he's a long shot because he has no check airman experience.
 
I know a recently retired American guy who walked in to a quiet, local 135 joint and flies their King Air about a trip a week.

It's not for everybody if you are still chasing big bucks, but if I was retired, that would be right up my alley. Plus it would keep me local.

He should find something not in aviation. I am sorry to say, just because he flew a 777 does not mean he is the perfect candidate for corporate. He should look at CAE or Flight Safety, I would love to be retired be home and work a 9 to 5 as a sim instructor.
 
He'd like to keep flying if possible. Early in his career he was did corporate flying and would be interested in something that would be once a week or so (he just wants to get back in something bigger than a 172 if possible). We live in Chicago, but he hasn't really looked into anything corporate locally. I'll mention it to him. Thanks for the responses!

Ditto on this one. He would be home every night, have good benefits, and an awesome opportunity to make contacts for potential contract flying, if not something full time. As far as how much he wants to work, its hard to do part-time at FSI, however I have heard its easy to do P/T at CAE.

One question though. Flying 121 for the past 30 years and depending on how old he is, is he ready to hoist luggage and cater to the rich?

If the guy wants to still fly; corporate or charter is where it is at. He has no age limits to worry about and likely will not be gone nearly as much as he was during his airline years. Maybe even some contract flying may work out as he could accept or deny trips and set his own schedule.
